I’m thinking of picking up a set of 5th gen SR5 wheels and doing a little project and slapping them on my 07.... if I can find a set at a good price.
Here’s what I’m thinking. Paint them black and put TRD center caps on them.
The picture below is a good example however I would use the matte black center cap instead.
    What do you all think?

SR5 rims are hideous stock they should be free.

    Black they look good.

There is people here selling their SR5 rims with no tires for $800 or trying to sell should I say. I sold my TRDOR with tires for $900 and I thought was a good deal.

Yes indeed I can’t believe the price people want for these rims, you have the exact same idea I had with wanting to buy a second set and painting black or a dark gunmetal color... I’m only willing to go as high as $250 for a set of four... I should hit up the junk yard and see what they have available?

If they are that bad, why do people still seek them? I can’t believe how some folks think shit should be free. Of course unless they are the one selling.

My limit is 200-250 for the wheels, obviously more if the set has tires that are pretty good.
The market is saturated with them.

That’s essentially what I did as a temporary fix to get rid of the limited wheels.625F11CA-3FA0-4094-85CD-D26901BC4130.jpg36B9D6BC-8265-41D8-9CF3-D717D1A51399.jpg 610C12CC-4190-4F18-AEFF-6004AB291A92.jpg

They look good! What did you use to paint them? Paint, plastidip or something else?
    Thanks

    none yet
I've been fairly successful (5ft job) using wheel paint from autozone. plastidip has not held-up well in my experience - EASY to use and cleanup.

But for a better result - I really like the stuff from Automotive Touch-up [https://www.automotivetouchup.com/] their spray paint + clear-coat does a nice job. the color match for what I've used it on has been spot on. I've used their cans and HPLV paint and had good results. Its all about the prep IMHO. I use index cards & painters tape around the wheel to protect the tire from paint.

if you buy a set for $250 and then powder coat them black at about $85 per wheel, might as wheel buy TRD black wheels or aftermarket. I sold my set of 4 for $300 local. Seems avg.

By chance do you have a part number for the center caps in this picture? I plan to powder coat my 5th Gen SR5 4Runner wheels black and slap on the TRD center caps but don’t know which ones to buy on eBay.
    Thank you in advance.

    Reviving this thread…

can you confirm this eBay link is still the valid center cap that fits the SR5 OEM wheels? If not, can you please confirm the proper part number? Looking to do the same thing but I want to make sure I’m grabbing the proper part.
    Thank you!
