Hello! New to the 4Runner world. Just traded my 2013 Yukon Xl for 2020 Night shade limited. Still getting use to the size difference but live it overall. Disappointed however when took it to schedule being lifted and was told due to the braking system on mine I can only do 2in and not 3 like intended which also keeps me from putting the bigger tire I wanted. Their still going to put tires bigger than my stock just not as beefy if I could go 3in. I also can’t add a bull bar due to the crash sensors in my front bumper because it would constantly think I’m about to hit something. I won’t really be doing a lot if any off roading necessarily but I prefer beefy over typical mom grocery getter as someone mentioned on here in another chat. Should I check around or is this info correct I was given? I’d really like to go 3in if it won’t mess with any of my features. Thanks!

Welcome from Wisconsin! I myself have not heard of the brake system being a factor in the height of the lift, this our 1st 4Runner and learning also so this may/may not be true. As far as the bull bar, there was a post on here about one that was not obstructing sensors on the vehicle, maybe try the search in the upper right corner to find that post.

Welcome, from Texas! The issue with lifting, it just depends. I just had mine lifted 3" yesterday, and have no issues. All pre-collision safety features still work well. The bull bar, that may be another story! :( Nice looking Nightshade.

    Cheers,

    Sean

    Welcome to the forum..

I cannot comment about lift effecting Toyota Safety sense since mine does not have it. This is my 2019 (without Toyota Safety Sense) lifted 2.5 Front + 1.5 Rear. I did had to remove Xreas. This is not our offroading 4Runner so don't have a fancy lift. It's just for the looks.

Well I contacted local Toyota dealership and they can lift it 3in as long as no major off roading because if it takes a major hit to suspension it could knock the lift out. I’m not doing any major over roading but they also quoted me double the price of what the other place quoted for a 3 before determined they could only do a 2.

Extended brake lines...im.sure that probably what they're referring too
Flexing the rear axel with a 3" spring and stock length brakes lines gets pretty sketch

I'd say stay out of that Dealer. That's BS IMO.

My Toyota dealership offered Spacer Lift for SR5 and TRD Offroads without KDSS. It's from a spacer lift called ReadyLift. It gives 3in front and 2in rear. They quoted $1000 for parts and labor. "Major hit" that would throw this lift out will throw the stock suspension out too.

They also made it clear that even though if I lift the car from the dealership it would void the Toyota Warranty for suspension related components. Will not void warranty on other things.

I would say talk to a good 4x4 shop near you. When I lift my Limited I had to toss the brand new XREAS system in trash. I see some Limited owners have used spacer lifts without removing XREAS. Again talk to good TOYOTA 4x4 shops and get few options.

    Update -

As per my 4x4 shop you do not need extended brake lines for regular suspension lift. You only need extended brake lines for extended travel suspension lifts. Ex - My TRD ORP with ELKA has extended brakelines. Other 4Runners have stock brakelines.

    "major off road" Trust
If you're gonna hitting the tails that hard you're better off getting a rock crawler LMBO

    Extended brake lines
Them inexpensive and it's something you kinda need to stay working in good order...then again jillkat9 you did say your not rock crawling so might not be needed in your case
I have seen those go out on the trails with ppl rocking 3" lifts...not pretty kinda skery
