Getting into a new TRD ORP... which color should I get?

Black .

 

Black will look good. My FJ was black and I didn’t have problems taking care of it. Sure, you can see swirl marks in it more, but it didn’t bother me and you can buff those out.

My last two Toyota’s have been white albeit one was a three stage pearl. The only area I have scratches at are the door handle area and handles. I’m going to fix that by replacing with black unpainted handles. I try to make sure if I see bird shit on any of my cars to wipe it off ASAP since it stains. I don’t think you can ever really buff it out once it has etched the paint no matter the paint.

I never liked white on the 4Runner, or most trucks. I like it on some sports cars. White can be race-y and aggressive if on a very aggressive looking vehicle.

Black is always badass. Sleek and mean.

Gray is a good compromise between "cool" and easy maintenance, however IMO it's soulless in ways partially because of that.

I never wanted white. IMO it's boring and ugly, and old person looking lol (no offense).

Wasn't really interested in red or blue, but they grew on me, especially the red. Now red is in my top 3 (regular non-Pro colors), but it doesn't matter anyway because I don't think I saw one red or blue 4Runner when we were shopping.

I didn't want the gray because it's so effing bro and played out, around here at least.

Silver was the first color we drove and I wasn't a fan at first. A bit boring, especially with the Trail or TRDOR wheels. That said, I wasn't against it due to it's ease of maintenance (I have a history of silver cars that were great). I only ended up without it because they didn't want to deal enough for me at that particular dealership.

So then I saw a black Venture, and both me and my fiance immediately fell for it. Definitely looked badass, and honestly you don't see many black 4Runners IMO. So we got it.

All that said.. while swirl marks, etc. are one thing on black paint.. which I was aware of from my car days.. trail pinstripes, something I was completely ignorant of before learning to off-road in the 4Runner, are a completely different animal. If I could go back, I'd get silver, because I'd barely even see the pinstripes on silver. And silver, to me, with some black accents (such as TRD Pro wheels).. looks cool too.

lol, the other day I washed my midnight black metallic Venture and was taking some photos of it on a quaint street downtown. Homeboy was checking it out as he rolled by and turned to his girl in his passenger seat and said "Dang that thing is sweet but wow look at all those scratches! It's so scratched up!" Haha I had to laugh and holler "It's the trees dude, it's the trees!" For real though, black gets wrecked in the bush. And I'm pretty sure that at least one jealous a-hole keyed a new line on there thinking I wouldn't be able to tell the difference. Shit-bag was almost right, lol. So I guess, hey, at least if you off-road your black truck in the bush, you don't really have to worry about being keyed as much!

If I lived in a cold climate, I would have considered black despite its drawbacks.

 

Haha and I live where it's about as hot as it gets (in the USA).. Good ol Humid AF Southeast.
