I know sorry; I just ran out and bought some more beer for medicinal purposes now; plus this way I have a large inventory in the case of a beer plant fire.

At least the brewing industry has multiple sources in the event one goes down. You would think this would not be an issue in today's society.

I remember a few years back a Ford F 150 supplier had a fire, they moved the dies from Michigan to England and flew parts to MI and Kansas to build the F 150's.

Good thing the Chinese have not messed with our sole supply of certain antibiotics. How does this stuff happen in the world today, does nobody learn from their mistakes or those of others?

Yeah I have a buddy who works for wire harness supplier for Ford and GM. He told me he is hearing GM will continue producing Silverado's and GMC trucks without these chips; then park them near the plant and add these chips back in when the inventory gets replenished (tbd); sounds like a big huge mess to me. Oops hey Joe did you put a chip in that Red Silverado in aisle 38? :)

I just read an article about Toyota had a process in place where they have plenty of chips in reserve. That was prior to this plant fire.

I have also heard that. They are one of the automakers that are in good shape with regard to chips.

According Japanese Media and Toyota HQ, "Toyota has been ordered all suppliers to have enough stock since earthquake in 2011." Due to this measure, Toyota may not face shortage as much as other auto manufacturer.

Good article. I never liked that idea of just-in-time manufacturing. Everything in the supply chain has to always execute perfectly for this to work.
It’s been promoted as this great lean manufacturing process but it really means “were saving money by not having as many warehouses and scrimping on inventory control”.
Toyota learned the hard way and now has the right idea. :hattip:

    Bone stock!
Just-In-Time. Or as we called it in manufacturing: Just-Isn't-There.

I don’t think any of the roof rack, bumper, rock slider, etc.... manufacturers follow this rule of having any supply on hand. It’s more like, you pay them, they order the materials than they build the parts and make you wait 12 weeks or 26 weeks or more. I guess they never heard of budgeting. Let’s see, we had 500 orders the prior two years, maybe we should order enough material for at least 400 orders. No, we’ll just take they’re money and make them wait 6 months.
