Hello!! I have a 2002 4Runner. I have about 280k on the truck and I almost can’t ride around anymore with my windows down do you a strong smell of gas. It’s nauseating. I’d love to fix it but I don’t want to throw parts at it. I was thinking it may be the charcoal canister or something. Please help me!! Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum, and you are probably correct.

Could be a bunch of things.

If it's the charcoal canister or something with the evap system you should be getting codes.

Have you checked for pending error codes with an obd scanner?

No codes would have me looking for a fuel leak. Even a charcoal canister that has a leak wouldn't be so bad you couldn't stand it from inside the car.

Pull the skid plate and the fiberglass protector and look for any fuel leaks in the line.

I have no idea what you're talking about regarding my, or the OP's, username. I use it on other sites too. What's the issue?

And yes, I have the exact same problem, it just cropped up and has been getting worse for the past week. Do you have any solutions or suggestions regarding that, or are you just here to be snide to new members? Doesn't seem like a way to build a community.
