I installed the Morimoto headlights and when reattaching the bumper it doesn’t seem to snap into place like it did with the factory headlights on the driver side. Passenger side it snaps in fine. I used the factory brackets off the factory headlights and even removed the Morimoto headlights and reinstalled the factory and it works fine. The other issue I am having is the corner where the bumper meets the fender seems to be sticking out about a 1/4 inch on both sides. Thinking this may be from removing the bumper a few times. Has anyone had this issue? Any suggestions would be appreciated. I’ll post pics when I can.

Between my 19 and 20 4runners I've had the bumpers off quite a few times. I've never had this issue even when I had the XBs. Did you hear anything snap or break during removal? Unless morimoto changed design(and I doubt it) it's not the headlights

No nothing snapped or broke. We checked all the tabs and they seem to be ok. It’s the craziest thing. When we remove the bracket and put them back on the factory headlights and reinstall them it snaps right back in. I don’t know what is going on?

Are they eBay spin offs or true morimotos. eBay had some look alikes last year floating around and couple people had issues with.

I would call them and let them know. Others have reported small gaps but never saw anyone mention the bumper would not fit!

I reached out to HR but they said they haven’t heard of anything like this. I emailed Morimoto and haven’t heard back. Tempted to take it to a local shop just to get a second set of eyes on it. It’s not terrible but it’s noticeable to me. I’ve got a little OCD with that kind of stuff.

Considering there's multiple threads from 5th gen T4R owners who've had that bumper issue without doing anything to the stock headlights, it doesn't surprise me you encountered a problem. I hope you discover the cure - it may help all those others who are hoping for a fix.

What someone needs to do is come up with a non-stock way of attaching the bumper cover, no matter the headlight of choice...

Can you link one of the threads? I haven’t seen any. I’d be interested in reading about others issues. Thanks

Did you ever figure out the issue? Having the exact same problem with my 2020.

    Thanks

After several attempts the bumper did snap into place on the driver side. It took some effort though. Once it was snapped in the other issue I had was resolved. About two weeks ago I had to replace the lights because one of the LED went out and HR sent me the new version as a replacement I was concerned it would happen again. To my surprise it went back into place without issue. Thank god.

Thanks for the reply! I will keep trying I guess. Took the bumper off twice and checked everything and put it back on. Just like you, the passenger side snaps right in, but on the driver side there is a 1/2" lip under the headlight where it sticks out and it just feels like it's not snapped in under the light. Major OCD going on over here.

    You in Sherwood, OR?

Yeah I transferred the bracket from the oem lamps. It seems like one of the clips in the bumper can't reach that bracket, but it does with the oem lamps. Doesn't make sense because everything else fits perfectly, but it's good to know that you got it to snap in. I'll give it another shot. Thanks!

Can you post a pic of the gap you’re talking about? I think I know where it is and the first go around I had the same issue...If it’s what I think, honestly it just took a little more muscle to get it to snap into place. Yea, I’m in Oregon.

It's hard to see in the pictures, but it doesn't quite align. There is also a lip sticking out slightly below the headlight, but on the passenger side that same part of the bumper is tucked in under the headlight.

I'm going to take it off this weekend and try it again.

I'm in Tualatin, so we might be neighbors! Thank you for the feedback and replies you have sent, I appreciate it!

I went to Tualatin High School my senior year... small world. I see what you’re talking about. I wonder if the bracket that you moved from the factory headlight to these is lined up correctly. When I swapped out my headlights a few weeks ago the bracket wasn’t quite on right and it didnt line up perfectly. Had to remove it off the Morimotos and re attach it. I’d take a look at that as well. That could cause the bumper to not be snapping back in to place correctly

That worked! Took the bracket off the light and lined it up again and everything clipped in perfectly. Thanks again!
