Surf City Garage New Pro Line product testing

I've been given a chance to test out some new products that will soon be coming out from Surf City Garage. I will continue to update this thread when I use the products and my review of them individually as I progress through the line I was given. My vehicles paint is well maintained and I haven’t used a wax or sealant on my paint in over 6 months and its going strong. I have some swirls and some oxidization spots that I really can’t wait to see what this new stuff can do as a normal daily vehicle you would expect to either own or be working on while using this product.



I do not know the Pro Line’s actual names for the products so I will just call them what they are for easier identification purposes.

Car Soap:



First impressions were its GREEN! I love green to begin with so to me this was exciting. I of course smelled it first thing, like a user jones-ing for their goods. I was pleasantly surprised by the green apple smell. Quite refreshing and not overly done like a cough syrup type smell.

I wanted to use it with a bucket and foam cannon as I know some people do both/either or. I put 1.5 oz. of the soap into the cannon and filled the rest with water. I put a squirt into the bucket on the wash mitt before filling. Very little used to try to get a good test. This stuff foamed like no other in the bucket. I was shocked because it instantly had huge amounts of lather and it was thick, very shaving cream like.





The foam cannon created an amazing amount of foam as well. Easily more than I have seen from such little amount used in any other soap I’ve used. Not to mention it made the whole area around me smell like green apple. Made me want a jolly rancher like nobody's business.

I sprayed it on the whole vehicle and let it sit for about 10 minutes like I usually do. I was shocked when I got done looking at my phone that most of it was still sticking to my car. Usually its half run off by then and needing a rinse quickly. I liked how it seemed to cling to the paint. The picture below is after the 10 minutes of waiting just for some proof.



The soap itself cleaned really nicely, felt very slick while washing with my mitt. I had some crud thrown up from the tires that it cleaned off with ease. I was honestly thinking I was going to need to use some APC but I didn’t have to in this case. Rinsed extremely well and sheeted nicely. To me it felt like it left a really slick feeling finish. More than I’ve experienced with other soaps in the past, the paint looked vibrant and seemed to pop more after this wash.

Glass Cleaner:

I used a glass towel from TRC for this one. This one smelled to me like a fruity/watermelon smell which I liked. I need to wash my drying towel as it seems to leave streaks on windows lately. Perfect time to test this new glass cleaner! One squirt is all I used per side window and one on each side for the rear and front windshields. It cleaned some gunk from hardened bugs from my travels lately and left a really reflective finish. I looked at my windshield and it was crystal clear. Usually windows is my weak point and I have some form of streak or smudge that I just can’t seem to get rid of no matter what I do. I had none of that with this new glass cleaner. Very little was used to achieve a full clean and had amazing results. I’m beginning to see a pattern.



Trim Dressing:

Looks like all the others in the bottle, thick white creamy substance. I didn’t notice a smell from this one but it could just be that I sniffed my senses clean of green apple from the soap. I used a brand new foam applicator for this on random spots along my engine bay and my tires of course. I used one line across the applicator for the tire. Did a nice center wipe then rubbed it in and buffed it down a bit with the applicator. I applied another line and squeezed the applicator together to spread it and went around the outside in a vertical pattern to get inside the lugs. It applied very easy and reminded me of other similar products except this one didn’t seem as thick and blobby. The finish it left was not overly shiny but not matte. I like the finish it left, to me I HATE HATE HATE glossy tires you can see your reflection in. So this was a very nice happy medium. I buffed down the excess and it left a nice finish, didn’t smudge on to my hands after I buffed it down which is big because I’ve walked by my own tire and got a black smear on my pants and anger ensued.

Which foam cannon do you use?

 

I use the MTM Foam Cannon with my electric pressure washer. That was only 1.5oz of soap too.

Rinse Free Wash:



Let me start by saying I’ve never been a huge fan of the idea of the rinse free wash. I personally feel as if its very niche product for maybe a show car that is 90% garaged. This was my first time ever using this type of product and it was interesting to say the least. Initially the stuff looks like a wheat grass shot you’d get at a local smoothie bar. I didn’t notice too much of a smell but I’m also a little congested. I put 2oz in about 1-2gallons, I wasn’t very accurate with my water. I dipped my new MF towel in the mixture and let it soak while I got other stuff ready. My paint wasn’t all that dirty as you saw I washed it yesterday. We have had some pretty intense wind so there was a decent layer of pollen on the hood. (hard to show in pics so I don’t have any). I worked like normal and wiped with one side of the folded towel and I was amazed how slick it was on the paint. It just glided right across it. Left behind a little water trail which was later buffed off with a different clean MF towel.



I did my whole hood as that’s all I was testing this time around and it cleaned everything off and even some minor spots I apparently missed yesterday. It left the paint feeling very very slick and clean feeling. You could throw a towel on it and it would just glide across and fall off quickly. I am pretty shocked by this product, but remember I’ve never used anything like this before so it was a whole new experience. I also noticed later after washing that my hands weren’t all dry and cracking like I know some soaps leave your hands. Big plus for me being a keyboard jockey.

Paint looked clean before...so i thought.



Water activated sealant:

Now this is what I’ve been waiting for. Since I heard it was in the works I’ve been wanting to use it. I got my water bottle put a sprayer on it and soaked my hood. Sprayed this new sealant on it and used a MF towel to apply it to the paint. This left a slight haze which was expected as it’s a sealant, I buffed off the haze with a different clean MF towel and it left a great shine. I noticed a difference in the shine instantly. I could see more metallic flake in my paint when the sun hit it. I really liked this product. It’s extremely easy to apply as your car would already be wet because typically you wash after you polish a vehicle. You would just grab your bottle and spray some on the paint and apply/buff off.
I didn’t waste any time and sprayed the freshly sealed paint with water and the beading properties to me were pretty impressive. Nice tight little beads all over the hood. I flooded the paint and everything sheeting right off. Really awesome results from this sealant, and so easy to apply. Once I dried everything off it was evident the shine that was left as you can see the reflective property is really nice. I will be buying this as soon as its available, it will most likely replace my favorite go to PolyNetShield.
