    It is! Used to go to Black Mountain every summer for camp, and I've been lucky enough to live in the Asheville area since October.

    Not sure what your itinerary is when you're down here, but I strongly recommend the Catawba Falls hike if you're into that sort of thing. Easy hike, flat, never crowded, with a massive waterfall at the end, very underrated. It's right off of I-40 in Old Fort, just east of Black Mountain.
