Newbie !! 2017 4runner Limited

2 Ques
1st - is there a way to lock my doors while car is running without already being inside of vehicle, of course
2nd - Can I disable my auto step rails (shin-kickers) to stay out all the time ? I have option of turning them off but I would like for them to just stay put while out.

I do not have a solution for the locking while running issue, never had a need for that so haven't looked into it.

Re: the side steps, while outside the vehicle when opening the door they'll deploy. If you put pressure on the deployed step while closing the door you'll feel it try to retract but it will remain deployed. I do this with the steps when I am cleaning the roof, works great. I was tempted to use it while parking but so far so good with ass hats in parking lots.
