    Thanks all! Picking it up tomorrow. It's factory loaded so first thing I was looking at adding were the wheels. There is a place here in Phoenix that has a pretty good deal I think for the TRD. Does anyone recommend certain tires? I am not looking for the complete rugged take. Maybe just all terrain.

    Standby. You will get many great suggestions before long. There are some goods threads on old posts.

    Since you have decided what tire category you want (All Terrain) now take your time and think if you want to lift your 4Runner or not. That will give you what size you want to go with. Stock 265/70R17 or most common 285/70R17 with 2.5-3in lift or insane 35x12.5R17.

    Then decide what load range you want. Like Standard Load / P rated (Very comfy on road but on the weaker side on offroad tire damage.) or LT rated Load E (On road comfort is compromised but very strong against punctures offroad) or the middle level LT rated Load C.

    SL Load will normally have 4 ply rated rubber compound on main tread
    Load C will normally have 6 ply rated rubber compound on main tread
    Load D will normally have 8 ply rated rubber compound on main tread
    Load E will normally have 10 ply rated rubber compound on main tread. Again this is main tread. Side wall ply construction is little difficult to find. Tires like BFG KO2 have real 3 ply side wall and tires like Falken Wildpeak have 2 ply side wall. This you have to see on the side of the tire.

    What I use now;

    1. Falken Wildpeaks P285/70R17 SL - Very comfy and soft on road and I would use on light offroad where there is no sharp rocks or sticks
    2. BFG KO2 LT285/70R17 Load C - Average comfort on road and using on my offroading 4Runner.

    Both have 3 peak mountain snow flake rating which is good for winter weather. Both perform well in snow on road. I have used KO2 on deep snow offroad and perform really good.

    ** I have used BFG KO2 LT275/70R17 Load E and I had soo much confident offroad but my wife hated the ride onroad.

    What I would try next? Many people in Colorado loves Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac for its snow and offroad performance. Only complain I've seen is they get louder when you put miles on them (as per forums, no personal experiance. So can't confirm that.)

    I wish I can get? I wish there is mud terrain tires or hybrid tire that has 3 peak mountain snow flake rating so that I can use it safely on road when there is snow and ice mix on road.

    Great stuff Kmeeg. Many thanks. Definitely looking for the comfort road. I am not planning on doing much off roading other than what I would take to go mountain biking which usually is not too rugged here in the metro phoenix area. I will check out the Falken Wildpeaks P285/70R17 SL. You guys rock on here! Super stoked!

    Look out for prices on Walmart and Amazon. Some times Walmart price go really low. Places like Discount tire will match the price. (If you plan to install them from Discount tire.)

    Sometimes Discount tire prices are low when they have visa card or master card gift card promos.

    You can also sell the new tires came with your 4runner on Craigslist or FB market place.
