First post! Test drove a 2021 Off-Road Premium yesterday and fell in love! The interior sold me- I dig the chunky dials, manual shift levers, and overall look and feel of all of it. It's just cool to my eye and everything feels like it's in the right place.

Believe it or not I was cross-shopping the 2021 Ridgeline, which drives like a dream and actually looks pretty good with the revised front end. It's cool as a "utility" vehicle and I thought it was going to be my next ride, but the infotainment stunk and honestly while a great drive, just didn't speak to me like I'd hoped.

The 4Runner spoke loud and clear, lol. Time to find one with the right features/price.

Question- One of the first changes I want to make is an upgrade to the TRD Sema wheels. For everyone that changed wheels from the stock ORP, did you have luck selling the originals? What kind of price did you get?

Thanks and glad to be here! Will post pics as soon as I drive one of these home. : )

Welcome. Many on here have changed to the TRD wheels and upgraded tires at the same time and have sold the originals. Price will vary depending on your area. If you sell tires and wheels you may get $800 or more. Good luck.

When you’re at the dealership haggling, have them work in the OEM SEMA wheels installed within the selling price. They might have to order them if they don’t have them in stock though.

Or, check out the Venture, which has the wheels already.

Felt the same when we test drove our 2020 Venture.. the interior really appealed to us, which I wasn't expecting after looking at photos of the FJ interior lol.

I’d make sure I look into if that wheel well needs “shaving” for the wheel and extra room. I read that on a few other posts.

Oddly enough a 2021 Off-Road Premium in Barcelona Red without the moonroof is a difficult truck to find in my neck of the woods. They exist 700+ miles away, but might as well be a unicorn in NW Ohio... This trim level seems easy enough to buy at around $39,800 though. Not too bad.

DC--if you can wait you can request a custom order from a dealer. Many times they can locate exact same order from another dealer in the USA and just swap vehicles. (just an idea)

I should have sold tires and wheels together, but I had them install the SEMA wheels on stock tires at the dealership when I bought the vehicle, sold the wheels for $400, and currently trying to sell what I THOuGHT were my stock tires, but the shop I had my Nitto ridge grapplers put on, accidentally gave me a BRAND new set of stock 2020 Tacoma A/T tires... lol so currently trying to sell those good luck and welcome to the forum! I’ve learned so much about cars and mods on this forum it’s been a really welcoming community if you’re trying to learn about your 4Runner

You know I liked the Sema wheels at first, but the stock ORP wheels are really growing on me...

There are a lot of people who get them powder coated or plastidip them and they look pretty sweet depending on what kind of look you’re going for

Is that something a typical autobody / paint shop would handle?

    Welp, got it done!

2021 Off-Road Premium, Barcelona Red, only add-on is the all-season floor mats. Paid $39,000 (that includes $1,000 cash back and $500 military rebate). Tax/tag/title extra. Doc fees were $299.

Time to give the bank account a rest...

This is it. Hiring transport to bring it the 900 miles home (specs I wanted just can't be found local). Could be 10 days or so...

The Ridgeline is nice. Drives really well (crossover based) and looks good with the new front end. If comfort and road manners are your preference, it easily wins over the 4Runner. The infotainment blows, but that may not bother you like it did me.

I just wanted something with more personality, and for me that was the 4Runner. Modern crossovers and sedans just feel "blah" to me, no idea why. Trucks are nice, but I always tire of their size. The 4Runner just ticked more boxes than anything else (except MPG, but we can't have it all, lol).

I am genuinely happy for you. That is super sharp.

I am not sure I will like push button trans and the auto shut off nonsense on RL. Which ever I get has to be silver. My boat is silver so I think it would be cool to coordinate.

Keep us posted on how you like it when it arrives. I think you got a pretty solid deal also. Nice job

Yeah, the shift buttons are weird. There is a physical button right by them to shut off the auto start/stop, though. Makes it easy.

Both DC and I were on the fence on whether to get a 4Runner or Honda Ridgeline and comparing notes. I am on the fence since I have friends at a Honda dealer and trust them (I believe DC had a friend also). But for me I think the 4Runner makes sense to tow my boat and I am coming from a body on frame Explorer. So both he and i have been on this forum and a Ridgeline forum seeing what everyones experience is. Trying to be educated buyers :)

Thanks! I like the wheels too and will probably just look into changing the tires right away. From other posts on here it sounds like I might get credit for the OEM tires at certain shops. Will be looking at Cooper AT3 4S.
