5th gen 4Runners in scenic locations

Borrego Springs CA

 

My wife and I are looking for a 4 - 5 day road trip from norCal in March and Anza Borrego is on our radar for maybe 2 days of it at the southern bit. Worthwhile? Any must dos? Figure on the F----- Point overlook (can't recall the complete name right now), Wind Caves, just banging around in the desert....

Only shots I have of our new 4runner. Had it for 3 weeks and already put a lift, wheels/tires and some lights up front. It’s a blast to drive in the snow.

 

You have an empty garage, yet park outside?

 

Scenic enough? Lackland AFB, San Antonio, TX. Today.

 

I haven’t even had a garage since 1978. So when we moved to MT. in ‘18, I made sure we bought a shop and garage with a house attached to it.

 

I also have a 3 car garage. Can only get 2 out of 3 in there.

My garage is 2.5 car in the city and two vehicles always inside; boat since outside for summer and into storage for winter. I guess this is another reason why I am still single

 

Our garage has the pop up tent trailer and our home gym so trucks get the driveway haha

 

If so, not a bad dog house at all! I would get in trouble more often

 

I see this a lot in newer houses- Unpainted garages. Why is that? All the trouble of drywall and mud and then it's just left... Unfinished. Seems like it's asking for trouble down the line.

 

Because our builder was running out of time and also a lazy bastard.

I taped, textured and painted My garage the day we closed! However we can't park our normal cars in there because our toy cars haha. I out of the two car shop and also have toys parked in there instead of any car we normally drive!

Might be the last snow run of the season.

 

How did you like the backside? I did it the 3rd time I went off road. It was a bit stressful, but I loved it.

 

This is the second time I did this route. I didn’t feel stressed this time because I knew what to expect. I have M.O.R.E. skid plates and honestly I hit them a few times as I lose 1 inch of clearance (down to 8” of clearance) because of them. I liked it a lot. Gorgeous views and everything! I highly recommend it. I even took some alternative steep hills to test the 4Runner limitations. Needless to say I climbed everything I tried. Last time I took this route it was raining and it was more nerve wrecking because the hills were soft and I couldn’t get near the edge which prevented me from taking easier routes. This time was easier because it wasn’t raining and the ground wasn’t as soft.

Honestly when I went out today I was wondering if I was going to bump into you on the trails. Although we hit different trailheads it was interesting to see you did go out. Hope you had fun! Views look gorgeous.
