    Hello,

Weve got a 93 4runner and the A/T temp light came on while coming back from a 45m drive up and down hills. I checked the trans fluid level and it was overfull by quite a margin.

I got my mechanic to drain the fluid and refill to the proper level. Fluid didnt smell burnt although it was a little darker than i thought it should have been.

Our truck likely has a blown headgasket because of white smoke on startup and very slightly depleted coolant levels every once and a while.

I dont have the funds right now to have the head gasket fixed but im wondering if this A/T temp light and the headgasket are part of the same issue or are seperate?

any help is appreciated. My gf is driving the truck down to the city right now and the light has come on again. Ive got her on the side of the road pulled over to let it cool down. Shes kinda freaking out.

A/T temp light coming on means the trans fluid got above 225 in the t-caseor above 295 in the transmission (going off memory here those temps might be off). Lots of times a clogged cooler line or cooler fins being dirty on the trans cooler or transfer cooler has caused these issues.
