    I don't think the part # changed

23220-31430 4Runner yrs 2014/2015 and I think it is the same for 2016 to 2020 as well...

I am not sure if its just the pump or the whole assembly as I heard the issues were related to the sending unit and pump housing assembly.

Kind of why i asked what part numbers got installed. Not sure many people would even make sure the parts are listed on the invoice.

Well, the dealership service manager called yesterday and said it will be March before there is a fix available....

Hello, I'm looking to purchase a 4runner and this recalled bc stooped me dead in my tracks. Seems dealers won't "Toyota certify" the 4runner if it's included in this recall...nice! Here is the newest update related to the fuel pump recall: nov. 2020

Well, the 4 runner started running rough today and it will be going to the dealer in the morning to sit till the fuel pump comes in and I will be in a loaner.

Update: Dealer said they expect parts in to be hitting the dealers around April......

Well, I have been pissed that I was going to be w/o the utility and capacity of my 4 Runner for at least 4 months more. So I went to the dealer today and I will have a new white 2021 4 Runner SR5 premium on Tuesday once they get done installing and making me whole on some options running boards etc: 0 out of pocket.....

So, picked up my 2021 TRD Pro last week.

This afternoon, with 200 miles on the odometer, stopped by a gas station to refuel (1/4 tank left). Filled it up, turned it on and the fuel gauge reads Empty. Tried cycling the engine, no change. Had a long drive in front of me so headed out. After about 20 miles, the gauge slowly went up to the top. 60 miles later, when the fuel was showing just below Full, pulled into a gas station and topped it off. Got in and the fuel gauge is exactly where it was before putting in about 4 gallons. 10 miles later, the gauge is showing Full again.

Will take it into service in the morning. Not a great start to ownership.

I got a letter also. I'm confused how someone said they had the recall performed, but the letter I got said there was no solution yet. It was more or less a warning that I might stall. o_O

Actually spoke to my dealer today and they said they hadn’t been given a date yet when the parts/fix would be available. Take that for whatever it’s worth

That's irritating. I'm about to drive from Wisconsin to Florida and back next month. Sure hope I don't have any trouble.

You guys are right - my issue was not the pump. The dealer reset the ECU and went through the learning sequence for the fuel gauge, which seems to have fixed it.

We were on & off the list for the last 2 years. Last week we got the letter from Toyota so I checked online for recalls & we are back in for a "no remedy available" recall.
How are they selling new 4runners if they have the same pump. If the pump is different then why no remedy...
    Very interesting,

Out of curiosity i called the local service department to see when they would start taking appointments for the recall. Turns out i set a date for next week. No loaner car and it would take "2 Hours". Still apprehensive about it and may just order the parts.

I’m still under my bumper to bumper warranty so I brought the truck in to have the front driver side rattle fixed and the service manager told me there’s a fuel pump recall.

Has anyone had this recall performed on there ‘18 TRD ORP and if so, anything I need to be aware of?

    Many thanks!!

You can run your vin through the nhtsa.gov/recalls website.
But if your dealership already informed you that your truck is on the list, just make an appointment and get it done.

Most of us were advised to bring the truck in with 1/4 tank or less. This will make it easier for the technician.

Had mine done last month. No issues or concerns.

Not always the case to make an appointment.

    Still on hold here.

I just had my fuel pump replaced on my 2018 on Friday under the recall. It took about 2.5 hours. I drove it home that day and it was fine. Today I went out and started it up and the "Check Engine" and " Trac Off" Lights are on. I pulled the code and got P0455 which is Evaporative emissions leak. I checked the gas cap and it was tight. Now I have to wait until they open on Monday to make a new appointment to get it back in there to see what they did wrong. Ugh.

Had mine done a few weeks ago.....could barely tell the tank skid plate bolts were removed. 1000 plus miles last week to Maine and back with some tight ATV tracks thown in....no issues.

That sucks, sounds like you drew the short straw with the dealership.

Hopefully it's as simple as a loose evap line.

I think it's stupid that a evap issue would take out traction control. New cars are far too integrated today.

So I took it back to the dealer and they performed a smoke leak test on the evap system and found that the o-ring on the hose from the gas tank to the canister was damaged. Supposedly they couldn't replace just the o-ring so they replaced the entire hose assembly. It's been 6 days and so far it seems to be fixed.
