    Hello 4runner peps,

I'm not a 4runner owner, but my wife really likes the design of the 4runner and has been talking about getting one 4years.

So obviously as the title of this post says the only thing that is making her think twice about buying one is that there is a brace on the driver side that is not on the passenger side, and said she'd hold out for a redesign that includes this brace, and I didn't really think much about until recently... and I asked her to tell me more about the brace.

She doesn't remember where she saw this "brace" that is missing from the passenger side or what it is called.

So that is why I'm here, I could really use some help with this so I can understand her concern and find out more about this "brace" or "bracket" and if this brace is something I can add to the passenger side after market.

Honestly the only thing she tells me that she remembers is the brace has something do due with the engine... I don't have anymore details other than that, please help.

    Thanks.

    Welcome to the forum!

I have no idea what brace/bracket you could be referring to.

Hopefully someone can help you out!

    Ummm. Nothing to worry about?

The passenger side has an extra grab handle in the interior, that the driver side does not have. That's the only thing I can think of lol.

I am fairly confident that the 4Runner is a very safe vehicle, providing you don't drive in a manner that will increase chance of roll-over.

I wouldn't worry about any bracing.. Toyota has this thing pretty figured out. And the next re-design will be a huge one.. the entire drive-train is changing most likely (2023 MY).
