3.0 PCV valve replacement

    I did this on a '93 today. First, yeah there's already a TON of info out there on this but it seems to either be "it's a huge hassle" or "just pull the upper intake."

    I didn't find it that bad. The three keys are:
    1) get the vehicle elevated to where you can see under the upper intake when standing at the pass side fender. I used my lift but honestly a floor jack might be even better 'cause it'll "tip" the vehicle to the driver side

    2) remove everything that obstructs your view. The EGR actually doesn't have to be touched

    3)have the right tools. I used some GW hose pliers to pull the PCV hose and some 45* extended needle nose to yank the valve. The "Double X" design of the latest extended pliers has merit because you don't have to physically spread the handles that much to get a lot of opening at the work end.

    I had the old valve removed in 15 min taking my time. It actually took me longer to put everything back together as I referenced pics on my phone trying to figure out where all the lines were.

    Nice documentation of the method D60.
    Typical 3VZ-E with 9 hoses and the cold start injector line needing a yank.
    It is darn shame that ruddy fuel pressure dampener can't be gotten at like this! My son Bradly's 1990 4Runner has a failed one and were pulling the plenum when the new one arrives.

    It's a damn shame they put that on the right cover and not the left. Would have made changing it much simpler.

    slight lift, aftermarket headers, cold air intake
    Uggh-this can be a pain of a job if it’s the original. The old grommet gets dried out and breaks and the pieces will get stuck in the camshaft coverplate metal divider piece (only seen if you pull the cover). The new one will go in easily though
