My 4Runner is jumping pretty hard when I’m in 4L and when I turn the wheel sharply in 4H. Do I need to get it checked or just use the 4WD more.

    Read your manual.

4HI is for slippery conditions and 4LO is for off-road use only.

The jumping your expieriencing is your CV joints slightly binding as you turn the wheel, the sharper you turn, the more they bind as you move the vehicle. This is not uncommon. If you hold a CV joint/axle in your hands and rotate the assembly while angling one end or the other, you could see 1st hand what's going on, providing there is no boots on the ends.

    It will save you thousands.
And don't drive fast in 4L and no 4L or 4H in non slippery conditions.
