I'm running the the new Smittybilts on my wife's 2020 4Runner. They are not the heaviest ones around, or the most elegant customs, but they are solid with beautiful welds, and more than adequate and they look fine and functional. The fit & hardware and bolt-on instal was good & easy. We don't bash this vehicle around with heavy crawling, though there is plenty of sharp lava rock on the sides of our roads and hidden in the tall grass here that one day bashes expensive to repair unprotected rocker panels. All our trucks eventually experience this unless we armor them, and the stock junk Toyota steps are like cardboard and flex.
The price was around half what we would pay for custom welded ones shipped across the Pacific by FEDEX. These were in stock locally from 4WD Parts store on Oahu (convenient but not my favorite), which made it a quick & reasonable deal. Smittybilt large tube side & front armor has been protecting my Wrangler since '94, and a bunch of other trucks over the years long before the term sliders came into vogue.

out of curiosity. Do these mount to the frame or the body like the factory ones?

Brackets that come welded to the hefty slider tubes bolt to existing holes win the frame. It's solid, and somehow avoids the KDSS and brake lines.
