Has anyone put a Bull Bar/bumper guard on the front of their 2016 Limited? I'm trying to think of something that I can add to protect the front end. I have seen some of those amazing steel bumpers but that is a little out of reach right now. I found this Vanguard bull bar online it says it is for the 2014-2015 Limited 4Runners. I sent them an email and asked if they would have one for the 2016. They replied that the 2016 is the same and uses the same one. Just wondering if anyone has done this and how it worked for you.

    Here is what I found:

They also have a rear bumper bar. I was looking at the ones that just slip into the hitch receiver but this one might be nice. Any thoughts?

That "bullbar" will protect moths from hitting the bumper, that's about it.

Ok so you don't think these would help at all they are just cosmetic? What about the hitch mounted bumper bars do they help at al against taps at a red light. I was hit at a red light the other day in Dallas in my current car. There was very little damage. I think the damage was so minor because she pushed the bumper in and my hitch receiver stopped it from being any worse. It did crack my bumper on my Volvo at one of the seams but it really was hard to see the damage. I was hit in this same car a few years ago before I installed the receiver hitch and that time the bumper completely fell off of my volvo. Both w err bumps at a red light. I just want to protect my new 4Runner as best I can from day 1. Thanks again.

The example you provided is all cosmetic but the only alternative is a full replacement bumper. Or something completely custom that you have a local off-road shop make from scratch.

If you decide to get a full replacement bumper, here are a few reputable companies.

Thanks for that info. I've never seen the pelfreybilt I like that it says you don't have to modify and cut things. I'll have to look at that more. Hopefully I can talk my wife into letting me spend more money soon. :). I can't wait to get my 4Runner. Dealer thinks it will be here on Wednesday!
