    Hey all
I’ve been a long time lurker and finally obtained a decent priced 05’ sport with 150k. Just a baby! I’m not new to the 4.0L drivetrain (previous Tacoma owner) so mechanically I’m fairly aware of the quirks, but still look forward to expanding my knowledge in the forum!
I haven’t done anything to it yet and as far as I can tell it’s bone stock. Couple minor things; previous owner dogs destroyed the rear door panels, new front brake assemblies going on this weekend, and the two big ones....frame has surface rust (who’s doesn’t?!) and the rear lift gate has rust on the lower left lip. I’m not sure if that one is repairable or needs replaced?
The frame will be addressed next spring the proper way (hours of labor, waiting for converter and enamel to dry)

Anyway, I plan to put Bilstein 5100’s on all 4 corners when the stock X-REAS give up, hoping for some TRD Pro grays to come my way and probably just tinker around after that. I’m sure eventually it’ll have all new chassis components. Maybe do vinyl flooring and headlight housings sooner than later.

if anyone has any first time 4th gen owner tips/ tricks please hit me up!

    Thanks for the welcome!

Mohoman, glad to hear yours doesn’t have rust on the frame! You’re fortunate, I wasn’t going to go through with it but after the screwdriver test I decided it was worth the labor to get it back to tip top shape.
