So I just bought a very lightly used 2019 Voodoo Blue 4Runner, and after only a few days of ownership my fiancee backed it out of the garage, and hit her own vehicle, which she forgot she parked near the edge of the garage.

The way the collision happened caused no damage to her vehicle (a couple paint chips), but created a long 7" crack in my 4Runner bumper under the rear tail light when she grazed the other car. One more inch of clearance, and the accident would never have happened. OR she could have actually ... I don't know....... parked her own car in one of the two empty %$^&#! garage bays.

Getting an OEM bumper isn't an issue, but I'm worried about color matching a limited edition color. Do collision centers order OEM paint? Or is all collision paint a 3rd party mix? Any recommendations on questions to ask regarding the painting process?

I'm hearing that the job will cost almost $1500-2000. Hopefully that turns out to be wrong. Then I'll need a new bumper and a new fiancee. :)

I had to have a fender and door re-painted on my voodoo. I was worried, too, but it matched perfect

A good shop will color match no matter how old.

One of my concerns was the lady at the body shop (granted, she was only the secretary, as the paint specialists had left for the day) spoke about difficulty in paint matching due to sun oxidation. My car is only a year old, so that would hopefully not be an issue. I hit a deer with my last 4Runner, and it collapsed the front end. When I got her back, the paint match was spot on. Was simply worried about these oddball colors (Voodoo, Inferno, etc)

Very frustrating. Two body shop trips in a period of 30 days.

If you want to skip skip the body shop- see below. I don’t have any experience with this company, but you can buy a rear bumper in Voodoo blue and pop it on yourself and keep your fiancé:

Thanks for the information. It looks like a six week wait, and the warranty is only a year. Since I plan on holding this 4Runner for 5-6 years, I'll end up going with OEM parts and a certified collision center, which offer 5 year warranties. If the car was older, and I didn't just drop 50K on her, I would probably take a chance.

Like you said, "She was only the secretary." Good body shops will match it no problem, sun oxidation or not, old or new. Should have asked her if she was trying to set you up for a "bend over" or what!
