Hi guys, I’m new to the 4runner family, long time mustang guy who is trying to get into some off-roading. I recently purchased a 2010 4runner sr5 4x4 and one of the first modifications I did was buy some running boards. I was installing them today and it’s mostly done, but the hiccup I came across was that when you take the bottom rockers you off, it leaves a part of the fender flare uncovered, and it leaves the section below the doors looking unfinished, do they make some sort of cap to remedy this? Do they make a prepainted one? Any help with products and links would be appreciated, thank you and I’m loving it so far.6AD59247-8002-4ED4-A085-A1AF691A23B6.jpg

Have you done a search for that particular Toyota rocker panel part for a 2010 Off Road model? That would replace the rocker panel you removed from your SR5 in order to install the rails, and would install in its place. There is also a cap for the end of the fender flare.

This video on YouTube shows someone converting a later Limited to the Off Road rocker panel, which is basically exactly what you want to do on your 2010:

And this video shows the replacement fender end cap:

The earlier 5th gen SR5 had the same type of rocker panel trim as the Limited until 2014, I believe.

I comes with a separate cap that covers the end of the fender flare.

Oh, good to know! I may need this if I decide to take the mudflaps of my 2013 Trail, they're built into the bottom of the flare so it looks like it will have a similar result.

OP, I don't know if rust is a problem in your area, but with the trim off and those holes exposed, it would be a great time to spray the heck out of the inside of the rockers with fluid film or some other rust preventative.

I'm kind of inspired, maybe I should try to pull mine off this weekend and do the same.

Last season I sprayed a bunch of WD-40 in the bottom of all four doors and hatch, I should do the same with the rockers when I hit them again this season.
