Well after 10 years in a Chevy Blazer and GMC Yukon, and then 10 years in London w/o owning a vehicle, we've just moved to the Outer Banks and bought a 2012 4Runner Limited. It has 145k miles on it with the last 130k in North Carolina, driven by a soccer mom. It is in excellent shape and I am very excited!

I don't think the electronic running boards are working. Either that, or they are switched off. As it was at a Mazda dealership, I just negotiated the price down a bit and figured I'd look into it myself as they aren't that important to me. Other than that, everything appears to be in perfect working order.

    A few questions:

    1) is the rear wheel well taller than the front, or is the front just lower to the ground? Do people lift the front an inch to level it off? I know that's a thing w/ the new mid-size Chevy trucks.

    2) will I have a hard time finding good all terrain tires for those 20" wheels? I wasn't necessarily looking for a Limited but this one was a very good deal. I won't be taking it off road very often. We'll drive it on the beach a few times a year and we get a lot of standing water down here, but other than that it's just a daily driver. Any recommendations?

    3) also looking for ideas for the following upgrades:
    - lighting upgrades for a lot of dark country roads w/ wind/fog/rain
    - best tint for front windows to match the factory rear windows
    - best heavy duty floor mats and rear cargo mat
    - roof rack for a surf board and kite surfing kit
    - new front grill insert to get rid of that chrome
    - good ceramic coating to protect the paint from living at the beach
    - anything else that I need to do?!

Thanks in advance, excited to join the fun!

Keep your eyes on ebay/Craigslist for TRD off road 17” wheels. Lots of people swap them for the Pro wheels (which in my opinion is a downgrade, but they do it for appearance sake).

The Off Road wheels are a great wheel. And you can probably find a set for a good price. Or even the SR5 wheels—Dime a dozen.

Put a WTB add in the buy/sell/trade section. Someone might sell you some 17” off road wheels.

You’ll need to make some more forum posts first though. You need to have 50 posts to conduct transactions. But you’ll get there in no time. (This prevents rand-O’s from coming on here and treating it like Craigslist)
