I basically followed the instructions from a youtube channel. I'll leave the link below. Took me about 10 hours to install because I'm a perfectionist. 7 hours for the rack and the wind deflector. 3 hours for the gas shocks and ladder. Only thing gobi missed was the last 2 screws didn't come with an aluminum plate for the top ladder mount underneath the door. Strange it didn't come with instructions either so I had a piece of metal laying around and placed it there before tightening the last screws down.

Did you do anything for water sealant around the bolt holes?

I saw that in the vid. Just wondering if you did the same or went with something different.

I don't like the idea of silicone hardening up and cracking over time.......and potentially being an intrusion point for water.

I have a Gobi rack on the way and have decided to go with Butyl tape around the bolt holes thanks to @mynameistory. He has a good thread on it when he installed his Ecotechne rack.

I haven't heard of anyone using Butyl tape in conjunction with Gobi's rack mounting plates however.

Does Gobi have any recommendations for sealant included with their install instructions?

Not sure exactly. I don't have it yet and don't have the instructions in front of me. Maybe I can download them on their site.

But the gasket/mounting bracket install starts at the 11:00 mark in this video. It looks like some butyl tape around the bolt holes would be beneficial.

I'd go with what Gobi recommends, and I would be very careful to avoid any permanent sealants like the video suggests. As helpful as a video is, that guy doesn't work for Gobi.

I assume you meant the CBR1000RR? If so, what a beast those are. In my first year of riding I had a 600 that I got way too comfortable with. I jumped on a members 1000RR for the first time and felt fear again. Amazing machine. Another one of our members had a Turbo Hayabusa. He was a good 250+lbs and could still break the rear tire loose on the highway. It’s been years, but I believe he was pushing around 300hp on that Busa.

I know the feeling. My wife tells me no more mods. And my friend that is the mechanic that services my vehicles tells me the same thing to stay off the forums.

That’s a good one. Lol. I tell my wife I never buy anything for myself. But she says when I do it’s not 100.00 dollars it’s always $1000.00 dollars.

Sounds like me Kevin, Wife says I cannot leave the vehicles stock. Then turn around and trade it in. I told her I’m keeping this one. She laughed and said I will believe it when I see it. She knows me to well.

Yeah my wife and I rode Harleys for years. We both had one. Just decided we did not want to ride anymore. With me working so much no time to ride. Plus other things.

Sorry to here that. That is one of the reasons we sold ours. Especially my wife and I were not crazy about riding anymore do to people texting and not paying attention while driving. It worse with driver not seeing motorcycles more.
