I'm not planning any lift at the moment. I got a 4R to traverse some land that the family owns. I am not one to go bouldering and such. Sandy mud, dirt, grass and caliche are in my future.

I know little about wheels or anything but I have had someone mention to pay attention to the offset.

Looking for black wheels to go with either:
    BFG KO2s LT275 /70 R17 121R E1 RWL
    BFG KO2s LT265 /70 R17 112S C1 BSW CM

You're not going to like this but many think the best wheels are the ones you already own. If you want them a different color you can plastidip or get them professionally coated.

But if I were spending some money myself, I would kit out some Black Rhino wheels.

Not the worst answer, I just think it's easier to sell my OEM tires if they have wheels too. I'm flexible though.

Possibly. There would be tire shoppers (oem size comes on a lot of trucks) who would only want the tires, not wheels. Plus, you'd need to swap TPMS or buy new and have programmed if switching wheels. Just a thought.

Anyone run the 275/70/R17 BFGs on stock wheels?

I know of several members that run 275/70/17s with no problems, or modifications needed on stock wheels.

Awesome, thanks. Any idea if they are stock suspension too?

I'd love to see pics if anyone has any!

You should have no problem with that size on your stock suspension, others will probably chime in soon hopefully with pics. I am running 285/70/17s on the black pro wheels, but that requires modifications.

OP the difference between 275 and 265 is 10mm, and 70% of sidewall of 10mm so 7mm in height.

So essentially 10mm wider and 7mm taller. In the end, that means nothing as far as ground clearance.

Skip the heavy E load 275, get the C load 265 (which is what I run even on a lift), and keep the stock wheels. If they don't look exciting, plasti-dip em a different color for fun.

    This will do the following:
No rub on wheel wheels or UCA
    OEM suspension will be fine
Gives very aggressive look you're going for without having a calculate offset and such
C load vs E load = better MPGs, vehicle has less unsprung weight

Is all of that worth a few mm of width and height? No, I have done some pretty serious trails with my wimpy 265s and had zero issues.

I would look for tires that fit without much adjustment; BMC and fender cuts are the most common mods to fit larger sized tires. And see if you can find a shop that will buy/repurpose your current tires, or find a used tire dealer that will pay a few $$. $100 in hand is probably better than four tires in your garage for a few months while you wait to sell them.

Hey OP, did you buy new rims for your rig? I personally like the design of vision truck wheels. They are not too expensive also.

We ran Cooper 275/70-17 on the stock wheels until we bought some aftermarket wheels KMC XD series, 0 offset, 4.5" backspace, 8" wide.20200807_200946[455] 4runner.jpg BTW- Welcome to the forum from Wisconsin!

Should be easier to punt the factory rubber without making the buyer also take the wheels. You could also easily sell the wheels by themselves if you just want something different.

Went with Fajitas21 rec on the 265s. 5 trips on them into the backwoods and I’m really satisfied.

I did. Talked to my B-I-L this weekend. He said it was a good move for the health of the 4R. He said the weight of the bigger tires would have shortened the life of some things on the vehicle. For doing what I’m doing, he said it was a good move. He worked at a Jeep mod shop for 4 years while getting his mechanical engineering degree. I trust him.
