Hey all, just picked up an 87 4R with 5speed and 250k on the clock.

I ordered plugs cap wires and plan to swap this weekend. Might also replace some vacuum lines and or delete egr.

My issue, I’ve found that when accelerating, if you press the pedal too far it stumbles. And if you back off a bit it wakes up and runs decent.

i did a bit of research but didn’t find much on that, often the opposite.

Any suggestions where to start looking?

PS-sorry if I missed an easy answer, I’m coming from the redneck world of American v8s and this is new to me (never really had to work on my Toyota before!).

    Nothing yet.
Throttle position sensor adjustment or timing, plugs, could b valve adjustment too. Or fuel delivery. Regulator filter pump or injectors. Mad air flow sensor or o2 sensor. Pretty much anything.
