So we just adopted a 10 month old 100lbs (for now) Blue Brindle Great Dane. How do you get them into the back of a 4Runner? Do they just jump? Also, how do you make sure they stay in with the rear window down, chest harness and tie down anchor?

Great looking pup. I had a 11 1/2 year old Dane mix that I lost back in 2014. Her mom was 1/2 Dane/Lab and her Dad was 1/2 Dane/Anatolian Sheppard. So I guess that technically made her 2 parts Dane but not 1/2. Her name was Kidder after the town in Missouri I got her from. I really do still miss her and can't bring myself to get another dog. In fact I had my sewer main replaced a few months after she died and to this day I've never fixed my fence so I'd have an excuse not to get another dog....and some how I ended up with a damn cat.

My Husky is 110 lbs and I have to lift him into my 4runner and help him out. That said you can always get a ramp and train him to use it. As far as the rear window, don't put it down all the way.

    Noone really answered your question.
I never had Great Danes but did raise and show German Shepherds.
All were able to jump into the vehicle.
As far as riding with the rear window down....all that does is allow exhaust fumes to flow into the vehicle. Not a good idea.

Training. Training and training. Train to get in on command and to exit on command and you will have no issues with the window being down. Also, after feeding crate him for an hour to minimize the risk of bloat.
