I was fortunate enough to have a buddy give me a bunch of these. If you're in Denver, you need to get a Slow Pour Pils from Bierstadt. Now I'm trying to find a way to get more!!

My son pointed me in the direction of this, and it is pretty damn tasty.

No hate whatsoever. I love Blanton’s. It’s hit or miss around here as to whether or not you can find a bottle. I once scored two, that included my wife hunting down a guy at a local market after seeing someone else with one. They weren’t bringing them from the back.

I have one unopened bottle left, and maybe it’s changed, but it’s worth between $200-300 in a market that hasn’t seen one in awhile. I’ll keep it I opened till I can find another.

They brew very traditional style German Lagers, hence the traditional style to their cans.

I was reading about their process for brewing one batch of the Slow Pour Pils and they said it took them 30 hours

The brewery I work at brews one batch in about 4 hours. We're mostly doing simple ales.

I'm going to have to look for that one! I greatly enjoyed a Pliny the Elder when I got home from flying, then switched to Stone Delicious IPA's with my wife's homemade red chile. It was a great day! On another note, I'm envious of those of you who can drink Taquila. That stuff alters my brain chemistry and makes me do bad things. I can't get near it. Wifey told me that tomorrow is Manhattan nite. Yum!

It is funny you say that about tequila. My wife, I & my father all love tequila (have a bottle of Don Julio we are drinking now). We all believe that of all alcohol tequila is more like a drug than most; if that makes any sense.
You are drunk but a different drunk. Some people like it & some don't. Do not get me wrong I have over drank & regretted tequila.
I still love a good shot or few & a margarita anytime!
Now my mule needs more vodka! Lol

Just prepare yourself that Bierstadt beers are very different from most Russian River or Stone beers.

Russian River and Stone make very hop centric beers (for the most part).

Bierstadt brews traditional german pilsners, helles', oktoberfests', and other lagers that are more malt driven. They are mostly lower ABV, easy drinking beers that make you appreciate the simplicity of the styles and the complexity that goes into making such a clean beer.

I love me some hops! But, as long as it's not a sour, it should be good. Colder weather brings out the malty'er beers in the fridge. Or the Islay scotches.

Had this for thanksgiving. Not fond of French wines and this one was mediocre but at least I can say I’ve had it. Also it’s older than I am

Ok. Can someone tell me what’s the deal with hazy IPA beers. I love IPAs but these seem to be overplayed and they are nice and strong but They all seem just bleh. Unless I’m missing something y’all tell me.

Hazy IPA's were developed as a response (counterpoint) to west coast IPA's. West coast IPAs are typically clear, bitter, and have pine and citrus aromas. Hazy's are typically hazy (obviously), have a smoother mouthfeel, low in bitterness, and often retain those citrusy aromas. The yeast used in hazy's is a bit different and can come across as a bland clay flavor. You might be picking up on that.

Hazy's just might not be your thing, and that's fine........but there are some great ones out there.

I do like pale ales, but I'm not generally a big IPA drinker. Sometimes it seems like microbreweries forget that any other kind of beer exists.

I had this a few times over the summer and really enjoyed it!

^^ You sound like me with the "forgetting any other kind of beer exists" comment. I've found some that don't seem to just want to murder your taste buds but they feel like the exception vs norm.

Had a couple Victory Brewing Golden Monkeys. Tried the seasonal Merry Monkey on Thanksgiving, far more flavorful (which isn't to say one was better than the other).

    IPAs sell best.

A lot of microbreweries try other styles, just to have them sit and eventually go bad.

Which leads them back to making more IPAs and multiple variations of IPAs.

It's just a reality in the marketplace at the moment. It will shift eventually as tastes change.
