    Hi Everyone-

Looking for some help picking rear springs for a new suspension lift I'm putting on my 4Runner. I have a 2014 Trail 4x4 w/ KDSS.

I'm going to be putting Bilstein 6122's in the front set at the highest clip (7)(2.5in). I will be installing JBA uppers to maintain a good caster and 5100's in the rear.

I'm also looking to replace the rear springs to maintain proper rake/a good aesthetic.

My question is: What is the best rear spring height to purchase to achieve this? I don't have bumpers or excessive constant load, I'm a weekend warrior. Thank you in advance!

I would high suggest buying aftermarket coils for the front and letting the coils do the lifting so you maintain ride quality. If you preload the shock it’s pretty much the same thing as slapping a spacer on top. For 2.5” up front your only option will be a 3” lift spring in the rear. Ideally you’d want 1” higher in the rear but I’m not aware of how to achieve more lift than a 3” lift spring other than doing a body lift.

The Bilstein 6112's come with their own springs, are you saying that I should go with a lower clip setting and get stronger springs? I feel that the 6112's are designed to withstand the 2.5in preload relatively well or am I missing some fundamentals? I'm new to this so thank you for helping.

Aesthetics are subjective, but most people seem to like the formula of 2/1......that is if you lift the front 2 inches, you should lift the back 1 inch.

So if you're at 2.5" up front, you'll want to go around 1.5" in the back.

This will allow you to still retain some factory rake. You'll basically have the stance of a Pro, but you'll be 1.5" higher all around.

Will do! I will be ordering in the next couple of days. Should hopefully be done by my trip to Utah next month.
