Just a bit of road grime so far.
I have a 2021 TRD Off Road that is currently bone stock.. I plan on installing Bilstein 5100’s up front with stock springs as I understand it should reduce the dive on breaking and it will be a temporary addition since bumpers and a winch will be in my future.

im also curious about fitting either style of front bumper as well as a rear One and what we have to do to maintain all of the sensors?

i have always run ARB bullbars on my rigs and they always served me well (including a double whitetail hit at 85 MPH with my landcruiser in NY that I drove away from with minors wrinkles in one fender) So I have been looking at various bumpers and I would like to hear real world experiences with the low profile bumpers that just replace the Center portion of the factory bumper.. I get the weight savings but it seems to me that you are giving up a lot of protection.to save a few pounds.

Before you get 5100’s, decide what you plan to do with bumpers.

if you go front and rear steel bumpers, the 5100’s aren’t going to be ideal for the added weight.

You will 100% want aftermarket coils paired with whatever shock you do in the front if you plan adding armor. As mentioned, 5100’s will not suit armor, especially on stock coils. If it’s temporary to fix nose dive, the shocks alone won’t fix it unless you preload them coil to make the ride stiffer which has cons. My suggestion would be wait until you know what route you’re going with armor and buy suspension accordingly to accommodate the weight instead of buying suspension twice, unless you have the extra money:spending:

Well my idea was use the shocks to temporarily correct the nose dive until I make a decision on a bumper/winch.. I guess I’ll live with it for this winter...

So now that you have shot down that plan Let’s hear thoughts on full vs partial coverage bumpers.

that’s just personal preference. A slimline let’s you keep a moderately stock look and have a winch. I’d love a full bumper, but my truck is a daily driver and that’s just a bit more extra weight than I care to have

I don't want to hack up the front of my vehicle and can't afford a bumper for a 4Runner, anyways. Decent winch bumper for my Jeep was $300. Same thing for a 4Runner? $1200. WHY??!!

thats easy, the Jeep guys need the savings to pay the tow bill.... had a Cherokee once and it was towed multiple times, never had a Toyota towed yet!
