Starting issues

    Ive changed the transmission but in doing so I also had to change the harness .
    Now my starter isn't going , ive jumped it directly to the battery so I know its not the actual motor .
    My first thought was the cable in the new harness is compromised somewhere but from what I can see its fine .
    Ive also cleaned and adjusted the neutral safety switch.

    Ive heard a few things about a starter solenoid , I can't seem to find anything about it and my mechanic says the solenoid is built in to these starters ?

    Anyone had any similar issues and can shed some light ?
