I'm replacing the rear coil spring to an ome spring and I noticed that the top hat of the rear spring didn't align properly to where it's touching the body. Will it settle after driving or do I have to force it to align to it's original position? It's probably off by 1/2 inch. Photo shows the top hat/spring boot is off by 1/2 an inch from it's original position.

The bottom of the spring is installed properly where the end notch of the spring is sitting properly on the perch.

    Thanks for the input.

Do you have pics of where it’s touching the body?

Added photo. I haven't moved the car so the suspension hasn't settled.

Lift the body to relieve tension, move into alignment and let it back down. If you can't get enough play, loosen the rear link to get more down travel.

Thanks, for the tip. I have to lift the 4r to relieve weight on the springs and remove the kdss stabilizer. I managed to place the top of the spring boot back to its original spot on the frame. I heard the spring settle once it was on the original contact of the frame.

pVT was spot on. If you don’t get it right you can experience weird creaks and squeaks.
