Haven't decided if I'm going to replace the tires right away. I am assuming that the stock tires won't last past 40,000? I have my trd rims arriving today so I am going to have to pay to have them mounted anyway. I have had great luck with the BFG KO2. Probably just stock size for now. What other tires should I look at? Mostly highway and snow and ice. Some mountain fire roads.

I would replace the tires right away. The OEM tires are garbage, the 4runner handles terrible with these tires in my opinion. Feels like you are driving a SUV with balloon tires, wallowing and swaying down the road. At least do new tires if not new wheels, you'll appreciate the control and handling much more. Also you can sell your OEM new tires for a few hundred bucks new and put that money to new tires.

Welcome - I went through this a few months back, luckily I was able to sell my stock tires/wheels immediately. Went with the TRD wheels mounted with Falken Wildpeaks, and love them.

Hard to understand on a Off Road package. What's the best way to sell the new off road tires and rims? Mounted or separate?

You will need to keep the TPMS sensors for your new wheels so I would sell them separate. If you go to Discount Tire they will often give you some money for the tires. $50/tire seems to be the going rate.

I got my TRD rims first, and then had to save up for the tires. The ORP wheels proved to be much harder to sell, as it seems that there are 8 sets of them on CL at any given second. The tires sold within 24 hours.

I just checked CL and there is no 5th gen Toyota rims listed. basically not much in the way of Toyota anything. What did you ask for the rims and tires? DT said that I should get 300 for the tires maybe more if I wanted to wait. Dealer said they would give me about 50 a tire.

If you're getting rims and tires anyway, it might be easiest to get TPMS sensors in the new wheels, and sell the OEM wheels and tires complete with sensors. I sold mine separately and practically had to give away the tires.

    Welcome to the forum!

Last year when I bought my 4runner, I went from the dealer lot over to Discount Tire and had them install stock size Falken Wildpeak AT3W's.

    Welcome from Canada!
I had the dealer install K02s before I picked up my ORP. I run Blizzaks in winter. Both are stock size. Great tires.

    What size tire? Any rub?

I've got the canadian TRD off-road, stock wheels+tires right now.

I stayed with the OEM standard size of 265/70R17 in Standard Load.
A little rubbing, once in awhile, backing up at full lock.

I figure I'll get another year out of these tires then go up a couple sizes.

Michelin Defenders are awesome for on road + snow. Quietest tire I’ve ever run.

Stock size and they rubbed? I guess I am going with the stock size probably with the BFG KO2 since I cant think of anything I don't like about them. The only thing I am worried about is the ride and road noise. Didn't notice it on my 13 Tacoma but this 4Runner is a lot quieter to begin with. The wife already commented on how nice and smooth and quiet the ride is.

I would vote BFG. The only area they’re weak in is mud performance. Everything else they’re top notch. I’ve seen posts of people complaining about wet road performance but I haven’t had any issues. Obviously, I adjust my driving style for the road conditions. But noise is not an issue at all and off road performance is great.

My K02s run smooth and quiet. Really great tires, on and off road. Probably one of the best, if not the best.
