    All,

I'm going to be ordering the TRD Pro wheels and am looking for some AT tire recommendations. I don't plan on lifting the vehicle anytime soon and am wanting to stay at the stock tire size. I don't have plans for heavy off roading, but wouldn't mind hitting some light dirt and mud trails. While calling her a highway queen sounds terrible, the reality is I still need her for a daily highway driver and don't want to sacrifice the ride.

I've seen a lot of posts where people were seeing rubbing in the stock tire size on the TRD pro wheels with some more aggressive AT tire tread, I'd like to avoid that if possible. That being said, I still like the look of the AT tire and paired with the TRD Pro wheels, it will complete my blackout look. Anybody have a good recommendations?

    Thanks in advance!

For good all around tire I'd look at the Hankook Dynapro ATMs, but there are many great options out there and everyone has their favorites. For your purposes pretty much any AT tire will work so I'd head down to the local tire shop and see who has a rebate going on.

If you are staying with the oem size you should not have a problem with any of the AT’s rubbing.

I stayed with my stock size, as my truck is my daily, and I don't plan on any crazy off-roading. I chose the Toyo AT3 after a ton of research, and I am extremely happy with them. Great road manners, low noise, and very capable off road.

Thanks for the info! I've had my 4runner all of a week and am driving my wife crazy with things I am planning on ordering. I was going to get my valences painted in matte black, how does the plasti-dip hold up?

So far the plasti dip has held up great. I have done 10-12 hand washes, and at least 3000 miles of driving without a single nick. I think that they key is number of coats. I put on around 8-10 light coats of the black, and then another 5-8 of the glossifier. I followed a youtube video and it was actually very easy. I hear you about the wife thing, I feel I may get punched if I talk about anything else I want to do with the truck!

Research plastidip if you never used it. It's great at first but might get you hurt later. Plastidip eats finishes like clear coat if you left it for too long. It happened on my oem wheels on another car. It does fade overtime and will need reapplication to keep it dark.

AT tires, everyone has their favorite or preferences. You can go by brand, design, looks etc.
Theres alot of tire manufacturers, it just really depends on what you like on your ride, whats available, or how much you want to spend.

I have 265 BFG KO2 and they don't rub. If you go wider tires you'll start rubbing. If you add a spacer, you'll start rubbing, but on special circumstances like full lock or reversing or articulating. (Updated response).

South East Toyota has a tire deal going on right now... ended up with KO2s in OE size, C load rating because, apparently, Nitto Terra Grappler G2 are no longer available.

The dealership actually installed 265/65 tires in E load rating. They are harsh... but not horrible. I could live with them if I absolutely had to, but its going back tomorrow for the correct tires.

This 4Runner is my wife’s daily driver, so I wanted a tire that is great on road and OK for when I occasionally go off pavement. The KO2 are a bit more off-road focused than I really need.

Thanks for the info! I've been planning on staying away from E rated tires for the weight. I'm coming from a Wrangler JLU with a lift and 35 inch Nitto Ridge Grapplers, and while the vehicle was a lot of fun off the road, it was not very fun over 60mph. :) I'm definitely trying to avoid that with the 4Runner.

The KO2's were on my short list, I've also added those Toyo AT3's. I've also been looking at the Terra Grapplers, since its one of the stock options for the for the TRD Pro's

I’m waiting on the 285’s in the Toyo AT3 to come back in stock for my 2020 Pro. Thought about the ridge grapplers but a little concerned on the reviews for the snow. But the grapplers do look awesome with the tread pattern.

For what it's worth, I had the 265 c-rated KO2s installed a few weeks back, which I returned yesterday to replace with the e-rated 275s (seen in photo below). It's interesting to compare this same tire with different sizes back-to-back, and I have to say it's the perfect for my '20 ORP. Sticking with the 265s originally for all the same reasons everyone else does, I was simply unhappy with the overall aesthetic.

24 hours later, I couldn't be happier with the subtle size increase visually, feel on the road, and zero rubbing in all directions. I had some balancing issues with the 265s that certainly has me a bit biased toward the new set, but they are silky smooth on the road now with virtually no difference in ride quality. Yes they are heavier and sure to be [officially] tracking a small decrease in MPGs, however, early readings show little to no change in that department.

I just picked up my new 2020 ORP last week and am also about to buy new tires. I do not do any serious off roading and was considering going with Michelin Defender LTX in a 285/70/17 (after a 3”/2” lift kit is installed). I have Michelin Defender LTX tires in a 285/75/16 on my Tacoma and they are great. Smooth ride quality, quiet, and handle great for a tire on a lifted truck. Anyone have any experience with this tire on a 4Runner?

Thanks. I have the XenonDepot HID kit (5000k I believe) for the low beams and LED fogs (also XD). I’ve been using HID kits from XD for a while without any issues. Best aftermarket kit I’ve personally used.

Thats a bummer! I almost had that problem to, but my local DT found a set in Phoenix, with the white letters. I just put the letters to the inside. I hope you get them soon!

I couldn't be happier with my Toyo AT3's, quieter and much better on wet roads than my KO2's.

I just ordered my wheels today. I've been waffling on the tires pretty hard and figured I'd get my wheels here and decide. I ordered the TRD Pro wheels (PTR20-35110-BK) I was going to order them from the dealer, but apparently they discontinued them a couple weeks back, so I ordered them on Amazon. I think they were right at 216 a wheel.

I know the stance is "slightly" wider with the TRD pro wheels, but it looks like a lot of people run them on the ORP's with AT tires. I'm just really not wanting to deal with rubbing. The K02's are nice, but from reading a lot of people have trouble balancing them. The wildpeaks look great, but people seem to have issues with them rubbing the mud flaps with the TRD pro wheels at stock height. I'm tempted to do a less aggressive AT tire (Wrangler Adventure AT w/Kevlar), but worry its not much of an upgrade over the stock Duelers that come on the TRD ORP. Looks like the Toyo AT3's are back ordered pretty much everywhere as well.

    The struggle is real. :)

I able to order from the dealer and pick up tomorrow I am not planning to get any new tires. I want to now use stock tire just transfer them, shouldn't be a problem? If I am gonna switch tire, I like General Grabber

I think research is king the pro wheel is narrower than the off road premium rims and you will get some rub on most choices regardless good luck

We went with Cooper AT3 LT (E rating) they are good in the winter or wet pavement, and they have a better chance on the rocks. Our last vehicle had Coopers also, about 30,000 miles on them, they wore fine, and rode pretty good, although when they got older they got a bit noisy, not too bad though. I think the big thing about Coopers for me is the siping, which give them an out of the box edge in the winter. We put 275's on the stock ORP rims at first then went to the 8" wide XD's, 35lbs of air= good manners.

Well, I canceled my TRD wheels before they shipped out. I think I am going to stick with the Off Road wheels for now, and possibly get them powder coated in black. This should prevent any potential rubbing issues. I do think the Off Road wheels are nice being a little wider, just really want them dark. :)

    All of them.
Really love my wild peaks. They are hard to balance and one took a ton of weight but traction so far I haven’t had them slip at all. I can’t fully recommend them just yet at less than 1k on them but so far I’m really pleased. And they look pretty beefy as well.
