I had to disconnect my battery yesterday and it reactivated my horn honking when locking and unlocking my 4Runner. The last time I disabled this was quite awhile ago so I forgot how and it took some google searching to figure it out, finally found it on a Tacoma board.

If you have a dealer installed aftermarket alarm (mine is Rockledge but read this works for others) and there is a little black plastic piece below your steering wheel with a blue light that flashes when the alarm is engaged this will work for you. I also have a regular key, not a remote push start type.

    1. Turn the key to On and then back to Off
    2. There is a button at the back of the black plastic piece where the blue light is, push it 3 times after step 1 and the horn should honk letting you know it worked.

That’s it, pretty simple. Now you’ll only have the beeps and not the additional horn honk when locking/unlocking your car.

This worked for my 2010 Camry!

I've tried so many other options and they all failed. Thank you!

OP has a 2011 so no push start.

But you have (per current profile) a 2014, do you have a push start???

Regardless, for later 5th gens the listed trick don't work, you gotta use TechStream or Carista's dongle and app to disable the beeps.

It sounds like the OP had a horn honk in addition to the beeps. The trick was to get rid of the honks.

I didn't know Toyota ever did this. :notsure:

My '03 4Runner, '12 TC, and '19 4R have only had the beeps.

Oh yes, his post obviously states that and in fact was clearly directed at those who have an aftermarket alarm; I guess I just wasn't processing visual inputs correctly this morning.

I was unaware the 14 Limited had push start. Cool. Unless, I guess, you want to cycle the ignition to deactivate your alarm honking!

I missed some of that as well. The coffee hasn't kicked in over here, yet. :D

I know this sounds weird, but I had the same problem on my 2019 Honda Pilot. After searching forever I came upon this thread and thought "what can I lose by trying?" My Pilot is a push button, but this worked for me. No more annoying honking!! Thank you so much.
