The baja S2 come with a non relayed loom. I ordered their loom with a relay and it has 2 wires to the switch. Simple black and red. Im attempting to use a mictunning switch so it matches. Issue i have as soon as I hook up the red1 and ground it lights up
Add a fuse to the relay box and red2. Not sure were to place that but I tried to power it with the add a fuse and it will light up

why is the switch always on?

What’s important here is the relay and how it’s wired to that wire connector and switch.

take a look at this circuit which describes spdt relay which is what most automotive relays are. Basically your switching one pin
    to two positions.

to answer your question, why is the relay always on ? Try switching 87a and 87. 87a is the normally closed with no power. 87 is the alternative position when the relay is powered on.
