Ruger love!

I spent the evening helping a buddy of mine put his new Mini-14 into an ATI stock. His is 300blk while mine is the standard .223/5.56. He couldn't seem to get his trigger group in & was getting angry.
He came over & it did take a while but we took mine apart. Figured out the issue & installed the stock.
The point on my post...
Which one is 50 yrs old & which is a week old??
This is why I like Ruger. They find what works & don't mess with it if it doesn't break! Good business philosophy.

Bottom is the old one? They come with a black peep site and the action is super tight. At least the one my old boss got was like this...

Yes, the bottom one is a '70's era mini!

 

My only Ruger. Love this thing though. Little heavy to carry through the woods but fortunately squirrels are light so it evens itself out by the end of the day.

Nice 10/22! I bought mine the first week of March 2020 before this madness. I love this gun. We got a deal on the take-down so my budy & I both built one. The stock is amazing. They are great guns!
There is also room in the pack for my Glock but that is EDC.

 

Ya I went a lil overkill on mine and put on a 4.5X14 scope with adjustable parallex...

 

Did you know you can lock the action back?

 

Oh yeah! Been shooting mini's for years.
The 10-22 has a hard (ergonomically) bolt close function so we got the pieces to fix that. Now you pull back & release and the breach closes!

 

The Ret Major General just got a 10/22 too. It’s a neat digital camo. Has a range in Wisconsin.

 

I do have one question about the mini...
For years now (20+) I have wondered what this piece does. It looks like it opens but never does. Anyone have a clue?

Apparently it comes off when you disassemble the action? I just googled the instruction manual.

 

We got ours used from my wifes grandfather. No manual included. I should have googled it! Lol I don't see the need to clean in there but I will get the manual and look into it.

It's just the factory stock on a PC9.

 

Sorry I think I misunderstood. It's an archangel stock. It's just a regular 10/22 though not a take down. I like it, I bought the rifle years ago with it already on it. If I were to get another 10/22 I would prolly get a Magpul stock like you have though.

 

Sorry, I saw the gap & thought it was the take-down. Either way I like it & it is beautiful. This platform is amazingly customizable & such fun to shoot & build!

 

Yes they are. I'm a big fan of the PC9. Basically a 10/22 on steroids and it takes Glock mags.
