You don’t need to be a celebrity to drive a 4Runner, just have good taste...

I'm actually watching the series, been a fan since LWR and LWD...

Those Rivians look the business... Elon's little Cybertruck looks like a piece of shit by comparison...

This is a rendering, but what I'd like *IF* I ever went electric. I don't expect electric to have the capabilities
of ICE for quite a while though. Rivian is on my radar, but just a blip for now.

The Cybertruck will rock the automotive world. Looks are subjective and form follows function. I hope Rivian, Bollinger, Hummer and even the highly touted ev Jeep do really really well. It’s all good and part of the solution. But these manufacturers are supporting players compared to the Cybertruck. Even the mighty F150 is in jeopardy the longer Ford twiddles it’s thumbs.

Likewise, Meefzah. I can see why some people find its design to be off compared to traditional vehicles.

I think we should change OldToyotaGuy's name to NewCyberTruckGuy. Or maybe No1CyberTruckFan :D

Kidding aside, all the new EV trucks look promising. Hummer and Rivian might end up producing some great stuff too.

Now for less charging time and more charging stations!!!

Which reminds me, Lucid says their upcoming sedan gets more than 500 miles range, and there's been some independent verification of that. Let's hope that's the start of a trend. Charging matters less as range increases!

Yeah, regrettably Singleminded, you could be right. I’d love to buy an ev 4 Runner! Toyota could do it, too with their experience with electric vehicles. Definitely, my 4 Runner will be my last ICE vehicle.

I was thinking exactly that when I bought my Runner. At least as my main ride. I can see buying a used Miata or BRZ or something as a toy (and who wouldn't love to have a stable full of all kinds of stuff inc some classics -- I'd love to have an old 911).

But my thought was that this is the last ICE to be the most important vehicle in my household. My hope is it will still be in great condition and become a backup and/or dirty-work truck and/or plaything once electric tech and the infrastructure are good enough for an EV to assume the role of primary vehicle in my life.

As we've discussed, I'm all in on EV once it's as good as gas in range and fueling. When I know I can drive anywhere my 4R can drive, for as far as my 4R can drive, without long fueling times or any greater risk of running out of juice -- that's when my 4R becomes my second (or third) car.

For sure, my thoughts are similar. I’ll be keeping my 4 Runner for trips into Canada’s north whenever range anxiety is going to be an issue. My personal threshold for electric range is covered by anything in the 500 mile range. Right now I only own one vehicle, but the 4 Runner will be parked for when it’s needed, or whenever I need a blast of the past.

Ford is jumping in the game. I'm old stubborn and as long as they sell gas I'll drive ICE:annoyed:
When they stop I'll go mad max and roam the desert:anonymous:
Maybe not but I really dislike EV. Over sized golf cart but that's just me.

lol I get this reaction. There’s something about electric that makes cars seem more like toys. But I bet you'll be convinced as the tech evolves. Way more torque. Way more dependability. Way less maintenance. Ability to fuel up at home, and ultimately off the grid. So ultimately more self sufficiency.

There’s going to come a time when the ownership and driving experience is so good it’ll win over those who don’t even care about the environmental benefits. And then people are going to be like, WTF, I can’t believe we used to power our vehicles with a smelly carcinogenic and flammable liquid from dead dinosaurs. How archaic!

My 4R idles with the AC on for about 8 hours a day in the Palm Springs heat on top of the 150 miles a day driven. When electric can do that, I'll gladly switch over.
