LOL Looks like a Mustang in the back.

    Hard pass.

And better than the new Supra? I don't think so and not a real fan of the new one as much either. Probably need to go see it in person.

Wow you guys are bitter.

It's a competitor for the Supra, not a bloated American muscle car (though I agree there's too much Mustang in the rear end styling) or a pricey german sports car. This may be what you get if you want a real -- and fast -- sports car without spending Porsche money. Honda doesn't have a sports car of any kind, Subaru has a great one but it's slow, none of the American makes have real sports cars except for the Corvette, which is 60K to start.

So this car will fill a nice niche if they haven't screwed it up (and given the good stuff that Infiniti has produced, I bet they haven't).

That is one ugly car. Looks like a mix between a fiat and mustang, hope they change the design. I’d take the supra over that ugly thing any day.

Just speaking the truth. Its like every 4 banger here driven by the younger crowd has an oversize fart can.

Makes a shit load noise but not moving anywhere.

Dude, we should let this go (I'm so sorry I started it lol) but this is a twin turbo V6, not a four banger. It will have more than 300 horses and prob close to 400 (or more in Nismo trim). It's got a manual for crying out loud! Also importantly it's the size of a sports car -- not a sedan that's been styled to look like a sports car.

If they didn't screw it up it's about the only real and fast sports car you can get in that price range. And the automotive world could use some of those. We've got a zillion fast cars -- shit, there are SUVs that are faster on a track than a lot of "fast" cars. But there are precious few fast sports cars that don't cost a freaking fortune. So it is a big deal for people who value sports cars. End of story.

I just heard a fart can drive by my work LOL.

But we see when final pricing comes out. The NISMO one now is $45k for the manual. Would you possibly pay $15k more (Corvette) for a car supposedly targeting the high $ cars?

I personally would and honestly debating if I should pick one up. I've always wanted a Corvette and the new one just looks bad ass to me.

I like it! I’d gladly replace my G35 coupe with this. I dig the retro style. 400hp plus a manual trans..? Sign me up! FD6FB092-9F7C-460E-9AA4-BA393D607065.jpg

p.s. Honda does have a sports/super car... the NSX! I’d love one of those if I could afford it.

Ricers put oversized exhaust and shitty mufflers on slow little 4 cylinder economy cars. The Z will not be a "ricer" car for the most part. I'm sure some douchbags will put obnoxious exhaust on them, though.

I don't care for the rear end. I'll have to see it in person, though. I didn't like the new Supra until I looked at one at a dealership.

I actually really like the 370, even if it's way overdue for an update. They have some shortcomings as well, but I appreciate that Nissan is actually making sports cars rather than re-badging a BMW and calling it their flagship sports car.

I do like the retro ish styling but I think I’d rather have a built old 240z or even a 510 built for track days. But then I seem to like having stuff around that’s not turn key most of the time.

As far as vs goes. I like to tell people my 4 runner can go where their fast car can go. But their car can’t go where my 4 runner can. Lol.

    EDIT: Except parking structures

I had a ‘71 510 2-door in high school. I swapped in an L20 from a truck, ported heads, dual Weber 44s, posi... smoked many, many VWs :burnrubber: which were all the rage back then. Another one of the many cars I wish I would’ve kept. :(

I disagree. The 2020 Shelby GT500 will outrun most anything on the road, in a straight line and in the corners. It isn't a cheap car by any means ($90K + ADMs)Plus the benefit of 760 horsepower to boot. Sadly, there is only the DCT transmission, no manual. I am keeping my 662 horsepower, 2013 Shelby GT500, with a six-speed manual. It goes like h*ll in a straight line and is just fine in the corners considering it has a live rear axle. No rice for me when it comes to a performance car. Why don't the new Z or the Supra have more horsepower?

You disagree with what Nissan is competing with?

As far as bloated American muscle cars, he could be referring to the heavy-ass Mopar offerings.

I personally like the idea of a well balanced sports car like the Z.

As far as more power, it's easily added. 600 horsepower isn't required for a car to be fun.

No, I don't disagree with what Nissan is doing. Where I take issue is stating a "bloated American muscle car". That is a generalized, all-encompassing statement. I totally understand the Challenger being huge. I took my Shelby to a cars and coffee two weeks ago. Sitting next to mine were two Challengers. They are HUGE. They are built on a Chrysler 300 platform, so that makes sense. They dwarfed my GT500. But the 2020 GT500, especially with the Carbon Fiber Track Pack, will more than hold its own against any of those sports cars. For the horsepower, it is extremely well balanced. Would I buy a new GT500? Perhaps, but the wife might complain about it plus, there is no manual transmission. I am old school. I like to row the gears.

I agree that the Mustang has become a really great sports car. I think we agree about Mopar as well. Not that I don't still like them!

I prefer shifting also, even if the newer automatics can outrun a stick. That's one of the things I really like an what Nissan has been doing with the Z. I'll take one over a new Supra in a heartbeat, flaws and all.

This is like asking why the Porsche Cayman doesn't have more horsepower. The answer is cause it doesn't need it. I really appreciate a lot of kinds of cars. The 'Stangs and Camaros and Challengers are all impressive in their own ways. I came close to buying one of the new V8 Camaros! There's just a certain kind of car that's in very short supply these days, and that's the traditional -- but fast -- sports car. A car that's small, nimble, balanced, light (at least relatively -- ugh) and that is about the kind of driving experience you can only get with such a car. It's about steering feel and harmony of man and machine. It's an experience that is bigger yet harder to measure than 0-60 and lap times.

The Miata has this, except it's slow.
The BRZ / 86 has this, except it's slow.
The Cayman has this in spades. But is expensive!
The 911 has it, but not as much as it used to. And it's even more expensive!
The new Z? Time will tell, but it looks like it has the right ingredients, and at a price a lot of people can afford.

    That's why it matters.

So true. There are 2 things that i don't like about the 2020 GT500: no manual tranny and the price - plus the dealer ADMs (outrageous). People are paying upwards of $50K just in Dealer Adjusted Markups. For a car that sits at - realistically equipped, $90K sticker price and add another $50K to the bottom line... I just won't pay it.

Hard part about this is I can't fit in most parking structures here.

Tons of old ones with 6'6" max height.

Yeah, I can't get in most garages with the basket. The next roof rack will be more low profile. I was pushing 7' with the Yakima.
