Keep looking around. Don't pay more than MSRP because you can get them for MSRP at certain dealerships.......unless you don't mind forking up an extra $3k.

Be patient. Things will be delayed because of Covid. They can't just jump back into production.......they have part suppliers that need to get up and running before they can start building at full speed again.

Yep....just found a dealership that would do MSRP. Trying to work with them on a couple of options like cat back exhaust...don't see it as an option using the build function on Toyota USA site and sales guy yesterday was saying cat back is standard on the TRD Pro....I forgot to take a picture of the window sticker while I was there yesterday to validate. Regarding spooling back up...yep I understand the reboot process after a shut down or slow down...working for Boeing as a Reliability Engineer for 37 years. :)

actually I had it delivered. Cost $600 and for me was worth it. tickets and gas etc would have ended up being more and I had a newborn at home to tend to.

Yeah "peak pandemic" right smokey. I dunno if I want a truck built on that day, at least in the states anyways. :rasta:

The TRD exhaust is standard on the PRO. And it’s a side exit too which is pretty cool. One of the many reasons why I want a PRO.

Interesting because the folks here at Rodland Toyota are telling me the Cat Back exhaust is an option. The folks who wanted to clip me for $8000 over MSRP (Magic Toyota) said it was standard too on the Pro. I have the VIN for the white one that's inbound...need to get a hold of the build sheet somehow as Rodland may be trying to clip me for $799 which is the retail cost of the Cat Back exhaust if purchased as an option on other trim levels.

    **QUICK UPDATE**

Found a couple of dealers in my area for MSRP but are sold out.
    It's 6-12 months wait and $500 deposit.

Some dealers have them on transit but wants $10K mark up. LOL.

Is the rear sliding cargo deck a factory install? Is it made to order only?
I looked up 8-10 cars on Cars.com and none of them has it?

Wow 6 to 12 month wait...unbelievable...not sure about the Bay Area but I filled out a sales order a week ago yesterday with color preference of white...and as part of that process, I paid the $500 deposit. The paperwork that I signed when I put down the deposit is a "contract" which states on that contract that the dealer has 90 days to provide a vehicle (it may or may not be to the exact specification {color}) but if they don't, then the contract is null and void and I can basically walk away and get my deposit money back. 90 days from a week ago yesterday would be December 18, 2020 for it to be here.

In your situation down in the Bay Area, if I understand the allocation process that each dealership has for various Toyota and Scion vehicles), if they are wanting $10,000 over MSRP, I would look at other parts of the country and either drive it back to the Bay Area or have it shipped (Intercity Lines or a comparable enclosed van transport company). Then you can have it smogged, show proof of insurance, get the title created in California, and register it in California. Note on sales tax....if you pay sales tax in the state where you bought the TRD Pro, you only have to pay the difference between that state's sales tax and California sales tax. Note: most states (I am told) do not charge you their sales tax for a vehicle involved in an out of state sale.

When I looked 3 weeks ago, there were several TRD Pro's to be found (in white). One in Mississippi, one in Florida, and one in Rhode Island that met my spec (Super White with NO roll out tray). Check around and see what you can find...be aware though, if you're transporting a 4Runner from Rhode Island in an enclosed van, you're probably looking at a $3000 hauling charge to get it to you in the Bay Area....so factor that into the decision making process regarding what you're willing to pay for a TRD Pro (Bay Area Dealer). Shaking my head that folks are telling you a 6 to 12 month wait for a 2021 TRD Pro though....yikes!

    Heyo,

I live in the north bay and went through this for the last few months... I finally settled on pre-ordering a 2021 lunar rock with the specific package... you put down a $500 deposit and that reserves the first one that comes in that meets your specifications.

I went to multiple dealerships and they do mark up differently. The quote I got in Petaluma was $63k out the door all cash. The guys in Richmond were the cheapest. If you go there, ask for Ty; he’s not a salesman but he can help you and he’s REALLY kind. They let me drive their floor model there. I feel bad I ended up going private party instead of buying from them but I got a killer deal and my dream car, so I couldn’t pass it up..

The sliding rear cargo deck is factory but there are other options you can install that are just as cool, and some that are cooler because they have storage space. The one from Toyota doesn’t have storage space underneath so you lose 3-4” of space having the sliding deck (I have it and like it because I can slide my dog’s crate with her in it). Here’s the one from Toyota you can order as a kit, but I would ask the parts department directly what they think about installing it aftermarket.. I’m not sure how it would turn out:

    *QUICK UPDATE*

The rear sliding cargo deck must be a special order because I haven't seen one.

I finally put down a $500 deposit for a Lunar Rock with the rear sliding cargo deck at MSRP. Wait is around 6 months, hopefully comes in sooner. Fully refundable if I decide not to take it or if I find one sooner. The salesperson said they could easily sell it if I don't want it. LOL.

But I'll continue looking for one with the rear sliding cargo deck...

Just started this journey of getting one myself and so far been a crazy ride. Got quoted 66K OTD but passed on it...have couple follow-ups from different dealers but they all want 10K over MSRP - Cerritos AutoNation one of them heck they won’t even talk to you hehe

I put two grand down on a Luna Rock Pro after the dealer called around and found one that had just rolled off the floor in Japan and that hadn't been spoken for by another dealership. I didn't want to buy one immediately so that was perfect. They have begun to show up in Phoenix, but I haven't gone out to see one because of salespeople.

Good to hear. Did you get one with the rear sliding cargo deck?

They’re definitely showing up on the lots now. I could have gotten a Lunar Rock over the weekend. One dealer had one on the showroom and were willing to give it to me close to MSRP. But it didn’t have the sliding cargo tray.

I bought my 2020 Pro this summer basically at MSRP. Really wanted an Army Green one but only one I found in California at the time had an outrageous 16k markup. Talked them down to 11k markup but they wouldn't budge from there. Ended up buying a black one for MSRP. If color doesn't matter with a little shopping around you should be able to get a decent deal.
