I recently used my 2019 Toyota 4Runner XP edition to pull an 18 foot Carolina skiff out of the water after a day of fishing. The boat isn't extremely big or heavy by any means, but it does collect some water while fishing which may contribute to the weight of it, though. Once I got the boat on the trailer and ready to leave, I put my XP in drive (no 4L or 4H) and as I take my foot off the brake, after shifting to D, and start to accelerate up the slanted boat ramp, my XP starts a loud "clicking" sound. It sounds like it's from the engine or drivetrain. Sounds like "clickclickclickclickclick" for about 3 seconds. This has happened twice now. I am waiting on the dealership to call me back as to what they think it may be. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Sure its not the traction control?

I don't remember it being a click sound but it is surprising when it kicks in.

I honestly don't know but that sounds about right. I just didn't understand the "click" sound and I can't find anything on YouTube that might explain it. And, yes! It definitely let's you know when it kicks in lol

Yes, It's the trac control working with the Hill Start Control to keep your car from rolling back on an incline while in (D)rive. It is totally normal.

    Cheers,

The technology in these new 4 runners continues to amaze me. ( I have to read the manual to find out what all the gizmos do)
