I do find myself amazed at how cool the interior stays in my super white 4R. We were in Leavenworth and it was +90° outside and after sitting for 3 hours, the interior wasn’t that bad. I thought we’d be getting into an easy bake oven.

Dumb question - What tires come stock on the 2020 and 2021 4Runner OR/ORP? Bridgestone Dueller? I'm guessing that a set of genuine off-road tires should be my first purchase if I intend to use the truck for actual off-roading?

Correct. Tires are far more important than lifts. Give me a stock truck on good tires over a lifted truck on Duellers every time.

I chuckle when I see car mag reviews reporting the number of feet it takes for the car to stop from, say, 70 mph. Most of that number depends on tires that can easily be upgraded, not the braking system itself. Hard to overstate the importance of good tires.

So these are stock tires for 2020 TRD OR and are they THAT bad for snow, logging roads and light gravel ?

If you have the same ones stock as I got then they will work for snow and ice as well as any basic car made these days but I'm in florida so they work for me. If I had your environment the better A/T tires would be worth the early upgrade

Fair question actually. Mines a '20 and came with the Duelers. I replaced them last month with some A/Ts and there's definitely a noticeable improvement in handling and traction, even on dry pavement. I'd say tires should ABSOLUTELY be your first purchase if you're taking it off-road. Plus, they look better.

Thanks, I agree. I have continued to do research since asking my question.

I'm most likely going to buy 275/70/17 BFG AT KO2s immediately after purchase. I'm 99% sure they will fit the stock TRD ORP suspension and "Trail" wheels without any rubbing.

I realized after buying my 2020 Limited that the stock Duelers are relatively craptastic. There's a good version of the Dueler for highway use (the H/L "Alenza Plus") but these sure ain't it.

My plan is to switch to Toyo AT3 once these are worn -- or immediately if I end up moving to a more wintry climate. Fortunately they come in the stock 20" size for the Limited. I know the AT3 doesn't have reviews yet, but it seems a pretty safe bet given the good reviews on the AT2. Plus it has the severe snow service designation. So seems like a good compromise choice that works well on the highway, is good in slippery stuff and is decent off road should that be needed in a pinch.

Do you have a part # & link for the place you got your OEM LED fogs (or did you get them from the dealer)?

The part number seems to be PT413-42191. I did get it installed by my dealer for the price noted here, but have seen them online at a couple sellers for only about $105.

I ran 275 on stock suspension on mine for about 6 months, minor rubbing at full lock in reverse on the fender liner. Easy fix so you'll be fine.

Love mine. Got it tinted along with my windows so the sunshade stays open most of the time.

And moonroof + back window open is a very nice way to cruise around town. Very little buffeting.

Gotcha. I wonder if the rubbing would be worse with the stock Trail wheels?

You probably wouldn’t rub at all with stock trail wheels and 275s. The pro wheels have a lower backspacing than the trail wheels, which pushes them out a little further. This is why Toyota does the fender liner mod on the pros at port.

The TRD Pro/SEMA wheels are 17"x7" with 4.5" backspacing.

The Trail wheels are 17" x 7.5" with 4.875" backspacing.

The lower backspacing on the Pro wheels causes rub? That sounds counter-intuitive, but I believe you.

    Link for the fender-liner mod?

Im sorry, I misspoke. I meant offset in my post above, not backspacing. Trail wheels have an offset of +15 while the Pro wheels have an offset of +4. The Pro wheels being pushed further out increases the likelihood of rub when running a larger tire.

link to the fender liner mod:

No worries, I knew what you meant. The punchline is: With 275/70/17 tires, Trail wheels rub less than TRD Pro wheels because of backspacing/offset.

    Thanks for the link!

I can't say I dislike the moonroof, but I was originally looking for a model without one. It's great to have on a nice cruise through the mountains, but I don't use mine aside from those occasions.

My only concern is the long-term durability. I've read some people that have had their moonroof randomly shatter/explode while driving down the road. I'm hoping for better luck.

One more reason to have window tint applied to your moonroof (in addition to making it nicer to use during the day). Tint keeps the glass from raining down quite as aggressively. :D

 I've actually read that being true as well. It doesn't prevent the shattering, but keeps the glass from raining down.
