I'm wondering if someone has a picture of a 4runner limited preferably blizzard white with the trail wheels.
I'm on the fence about changing my wheels to that one but I didn't know that they are 17" (265/70/17) compared to the 20" the limited offers (245/60/20) . What are you guys thoughts on those? much appreciated

    Do it

20" wheels are ghey on this sort of machine

Limited would be cool with two changes: 17" wheels and a revised / no chrome front end

Those Trail wheels are actually super- great wheels

I'd also like to see pics of Limiteds with 17" wheels. I'm guessing that most Limited owners aren't driving off road, so few see a reason to do it. Plus, the 20s, even if kinda silly, aren't really that low profile. Especially not compared to low profile tires on sedans. The 4R Limited tires are relatively meaty, so not really a huge need for smaller rims. Still, would be cool to see what other Limited owners have done and their experiences with the ride, handling and off road situations!

Agreed! I have been planning a 17” wheel swap since I picked up my used 4Runner. Hope to do it when I get winter tires...Now if I could just find those 17” wheels!!!

I like the Trail rims a whole lot better than the stock 20's. Here are some pictures I found. Not my car and hope the person doesn't mind me sharing

Here is my 2013 Limited that I converted to look like a Pro/Offroad. Im so glad I got rid of the chrome and the 20s. The ride feels just the same as an Sr5 or Off road. I haven't taken it off road but have done some trails and it did just fine.....Im lifted on Billstein 5100/Rear lift springs

Pretty cool! Got any more pics of it, like maybe in profile? Details on your experience converting it would be cool too. e.g. if it came with XREAS and you kept that.

I like a lot about the Limited, such as the XREAS, leather, ventilated seats and (for my usage) full time 4WD. But am not a fan of chrome. Or how low the front bumper hangs down on a vehicle that has high ground clearance as one of its virtues.

Ill post some more pics when I get a chance at it. Well since its a 2013 I basically had to do more than say if it was a 2014. I had to change out the headlights, upper grill, center support, fender liners, headlight brackets, bumper retainers, bumper reinforcement. I had to buy some extra plugs for the headlights since on the 2013 the driving lights are near the fog lights as opposed to in the headlights on the 14 and up. It was quite a task. I found a Trail bumper on eBay and found the front valence locally. Had them both painted by a friend. Also bought the fog light bezels and Morimoto fog lights. I installed the XD hid kit while I was at it. Luckily I was able to find most of the stuff used on eBay, locally and out of state. Im glad I did it. I also changed out the sides to the trail rockers with the TRD running boards and out back I changed out the rear tails and rear bumper from a Trail edition.
On the subject of Xreas. Yes since it is a limited it did come with Xreas but I took it out since it was leaking really bad and replaced the shocks with Billsteins.
I also changed out the side mirrors to the 14up version.

Wow yes a lot of work, well done! When you have time I'd be very interested to hear about your impression of the Bilsteins, how they compare with the XREAS and if you have any recommendations. I expect my XREAS to blow up sometime after the warranty expires but before I'm ready to ditch the truck. So I'm hoping there'll be a replacement option that is just as good at reducing brake dive and body roll. Maybe something with reservoirs?

Limited to TRD is simpler then you think :) I did this 8mo ago and it was a blast. Take a look at my build thread for more info.

A buddy of mine replaced his Xreas with the factory TRD setup and is happy with it. As far as the bill steins go I love them. Really smooth ride and nose dive is a minimum. I would recommend them if you ever replace your Xreas and are looking for something that won't break the bank. As far as body roll it is a 4runner so theres going to be body roll. TBH I couldn't tell the difference before or after between the two.

Cool seeing my truck with the TRD OR wheels. Thanks.

Did you make any other mods?

Thanks for sharing, I also have an MGM Limited. You just confirmed my route to dropping down to 17" wheels once my tires require replacement. The aesthetic of those wheels have always appealed to me and I find it interesting at how many folks are so quick to ditch them. Their loss, our gain I guess. ;-)

I think they're really good looking wheels. The all silver actually looks better IMO. And the garbage people replace them with, ung, breaks my heart.

I drove to Seattle some time back to rescue a set that was appropriately cheap for my wife's SR5.... 13 hours one way, LOL...

Nothing yet and if/when I add stuff it will probably be minor. This is 90% DD/kids carpool so it's built for that use.

what size are the tires themselves? I’ve got a set locally I may pull the trigger on since I really can’t find any tires I’d like to with on my 20s.

Are those wheels any wider than the stock 20” wheels? How big of a tire could you put on that wheel without a lift? What about with a tiny lift in front to level?

I believe they're 265/70/r17. They match the stock size for the 17 wheels, although I suspect you can fit several sizes on these comfortably.

Excuse the dirty car lol been raining a lot the past few days. I found these wheels locally with winter tires in good shape. No center caps tho so I am looking for some. It was a pretty good deal considering it had winter tires already mounted and ready to go. It was $500 CAD and like down the street from my house so that’s always good
