Hello! I am new here and am in the market for a 2nd Generation 4Runner. Any advice would be helpful. I found a 1991 for $6K. It has 224K miles on it. These are the repairs that were done at 216K miles:
    -Cylinder heads(cams, valves, gaskets, distributor)
    -distributor cap
    -plugs/wires
    -injectors
    -alternator
    -starter
    -fuel pump
    -fuel tank
    -front axle
    -front drivers side bearings
    -brake shoes
    -master cylinder
    -battery(week ago)
    -brake distribution valve
    -radiator
    -thermostat
    -water pump

I know there are some issues with these vehicles. Is this a good deal?

With the disclaimer that there's a whole heck of a lot that none of us know about this particular truck, I think the threshold question is: what are you going to use it for?

If you need this thing to get to work every day, IMO it's a very easy No.

If it's just a toy for romping on the trails and it doesn't matter much if it breaks, IMO the answer would be, uh, Maybe?

If it's had all the work you listed, and you have good reason to believe it was done properly, and it seems to run well, and you aren't aware of any other big problems, and you have money to burn on a toy....

Are there receipts for all the work? These trucks have boxed frames which rust from the inside out. Climb underneath and poke around. Literally. Its looks fairly straight and clean other than the hideous rims. Out here that’s a $3500-4000 truck. Good luck.

That is a lot of work done. I would find out why he had to do all that? Was it neglected for along time? 6K, absolutely not.

Assuming it is a 3VZ-E and pictures show it is an automatic you have one strike against you beside the wheels. No way for $6K.

Offer $3,000 pay $3500 unless the work shown is documented and there are legitimate paper receipts and service history. If so do a CARFAX on it, otherwise it is a painted cow and you need to walk away!
