This happens 100% of the time when my 4runner is facing downhill, with all the weight on the front, not so much when going up hill. Pumping my brakes doesn't do it, just starting to move forward as soon as I release the brake pedal. Coming to a sudden stop does not make the noise. Here's a pic of some damage on my passenger side. Could this be relevant? What's that smashed bit? I've been noticing the sound for a while and it seems to be getting worse. (thanks in advance, BTD)

Nothing in your pictures shows anything that’s damaged. My guess is just that the pads are just under immense stress when you’re facing downhill, that when you release the pedal they become “unstuck” from the surface of the disc. Mine does it on trails, it’ll creak and squeak and make all sorts of noises when going downhill and hitting the brakes, and it’s also the suspension moving around.

I am not a wrencher, I have to google everything, so sorry for asking again. Here's another pic. Driver's side versus passenger, which looks fubar. Looks like some kind of clip holding stuff together, which is out of place and smashed in the right photo. But yes, I guess cars get old and start making noises. I've never had a new one before, so am keyed in to new noises. Up to 60k miles of hard driving.

That’s your sway bar, and those look like the bushings. Not 100% sure on what position these should be in but they could be the culprit, but I am leaning more towards its just your pads sticking to the disc surface when facing downhill and all the weight in concentrated on the front rotors.

    Here's a video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IFNgrAnHPl4&feature=youtu.be

I found I'm missing a skid plate bolt, and one of my rock light cables was slapping a heat shield, but no other obvious damage. Thanks for identifying the part for me. Looks like that bushing is pretty easy to replace.

that's the sway bar. KDSS? did you install a lift? The lift can change the dynamics and affect that bushing. Stealership wanted to replace the entire sway bar so I just added a zip tie to it and is been holding fine for a while. It's not related to the breaks.

Yes, 2016 TEP with KDSS and Toytec 3/2 lift. I paid a shop to do the lift, and asked them if this would cause any other parts to wear out prematurely. But couldn't get a straight answer. I added upgraded rear coils, too, for the Shrockworks rear bumper, front bumper is stock.

Adding a lift will 100% cause everything suspension related to wear out faster, including wheel bearings.

If the sound is coming from the rear of the vehicle, it is the sound of the parking brake releasing from the rear rotors.
