Heat expands stuff and cold can mask issues. Newer corolla i had was a 2017. Both seat tracks had play in them noticeable on 80+ weather on stop and go traffic. Took to dealer 3 times under warranty could not reproduce issue. Had i taken it to a dealer in desert area they woulda catch it in summer and fix it. Cold masked the issue and made parts tighter. LESSON LEARNED. NEVER BUY A VEHICLE DURING WINTER.

GOT SICK AND TIRED AND TRADED IT FOR A 2020 4 RUNNER. BEST VEHICLE IVE EVER HAD. Some poor sucker will have seat problems on that car for life. NOW I can easily tow my trailer.

It’s hot here the majority of the time in Florida. Lol

We are talking about working something out to trade mine in for a 2020 but Toyota says the 2020’s can have the same issue.

    Ah damnnnn 2020s too.
If it makes you guys feel any better...

My 2020 both sides the bumper on those corners the bumper is actually inwards a little against the fender tight. As if the bumper was pulled tight into the fender a hair too much tight against the fender if if if you were picky. Were you guys bumper like this when new or not "pulled" as tight as mine? So far knock on wood driven through speed bumps krapppy roads in SO CAL (GAS TAX SUPPOSED TO FIX ROADS YEAH RIGHT BIG LOAD OF PROCESSED MEALS) and both corners remain tight. Summer expansion will be the REAL TEST.

BUY A NEW TRUCK/CAR IN SUMMER TRUST ME GUYS. In cold weather metal and other materials get smaller and "could" hide issues making everything tight specially seat tracks. Rattles might not appear till summer. Some newer corollas and camrys have this seat traxk issue not replicated in winter. If you test drive in cold weather make sure to hit up those rough streets kinda fast. You wana hear for rattles or any clunks. MAKE THE VEHICLE SHAKE AND REVEAL A SOLID RATTLE FREE FEEL OR POSSIBLE ISSUEZ ON BODY DOORS AND UNDER CARRIAGE.

    MY 2 centz.

This is exactly why I probably won't even mention it to the dealer. It's not any worse than it was when new and I'm sure I'm the only one who even notices.

Yes those are a Toyota problem not from something u have done.. I have had 2.. 2019 limited that was doing it on the Driver side and a 2020 limited that made it to 6700 miles and the passenger side is doing it.. My thought is either the wind or the bugs from highway speed that did mine since I always get out and look at my corners and stays in the garage.. I choose to live with it as I don’t trust no one to take it off and put back on with all those sensors in the front.. Some have both sides popped out and they are brand new on the lot.. Been like that since 2014 when they redesigned the front on these.. Ashamed that Toyota can’t get that right and mine was 47000 vehicle..

    IMHO,

The issue can be fixed by adjusting the bumper. The back of the bumper has square alignment pegs which sit securely into these brackets under the headlights. if not seated correctly, the bumper will bounce around and cause gaps.

Once aligned correctly, no more gaps.

2020 here. I just noticed this a couple of days ago on my vehicle on the driver and passenger side. It has been hot here in the Phoenix area (several days over 110). I called the dealership who told me that it is common. The dealership referred me to a body shop that epoxied the bumper/clips. The body shop said that the corners of the bumper will pop out when/if the bumper gets pushed.

This is a known issue with the 4Runner. I recently purchased a 2020 limited and noticed the bumper issue when i got home the night of purchase. I took it back to the dealer, and the service department replaced the clips under warranty. On a 60 mile drive after installation, the bumper popped out again. The dealer's service department referred me to their body shop, who fixed it under warranty as well. I've driven it for about 200 miles, and it seems to be holding up so far. Both the service department and the body shop told me that this was a known issue. The body shop did a stellar job in fixing the problem and communicating the timing with me. They even provided me a rental car for 2 weeks, while they ordered the part and fixed it. Afterwards, they had to calibrate the parking sensors as well. Good luck to everyone.

    Stock....for now
I just picked up a 2013 with 70K miles and mine front bumper is doing this on both sides. I wondered if it was damaged prior to my purchase but now I believe it's a wide spread problem.

I know the little pieces of plastic Nubs on the bumper that fits into the piece under headlights gets worn down very easily it’s soft plastic, and it no longer holds in place I ended up using some epoxy putty and it’s not flush but way better that before and has held up for a year now..

Do you know if that bracket under the headlight is replaceable? If so, maybe that's a fix.

Mine was perfect until i hit a tree. After repairs, now it sticks out exactly like pic in first post. Haven't decided if its worth disassembly to try adjusting bracket positions.

It seems, then, whatever is on the back side of the bumper cover that fits into those brackets, is defective, if they won't stay clipped in tight.

Victory 4x4 makes a nice bumper that will fix this problem permanently.

I have this same issue and had led installed by toyota before purchase, which i think is the reason, they will fix it under warranty they told me it was bumper clips, ive been procrastinating on sending it in, both sides pop out on my runner as well and its been like this and was purchased new

I put in new headlights, and it won’t stay popped in whenever I drive it. Threw some 3M double sided tape on it and it seems to be staying put. Was thinking about going with epoxy, but didn’t want to know what would happen if I need to take the bumper cover off again.

Yeah my passenger side does this now that I replaced my headlights. I think some of the clips on the cover broke off and thats the reason for mine. This 4R is my favorite vehicle I've ever owned. I've had to completely ignore my OCD. I've never seen a vehicle get as many rock chips in the hood, bumper and windshield. If anything barely touches it then it will leave a ding. The wheels are a beating to take care of. Somehow I still love it.

Unless Victory's "nice bumper" replaces this part of the bumper cover:
    upload_2022-6-29_11-3-15.jpg

Which you can see in this photo, it doesn't:
    upload_2022-6-29_11-6-25.jpg

    Victory's $1500+ 'fix' wouldn't solve this issue.

Is this the part of the fender you are saying needs to be bent a little to align the bumper attachment bracket?

I did the Toyota "fix" with Velcro, and I used better adhesive on the velcro to ensure it adheres in South Carolina heat. Its been sitting for 3 weeks as I was away on travel, with painters tape and a little piece of plastic to push/hold the bumper while I was gone.
We shall see. I expect it to pop out again. So disappointed on this issue.

Mine broke on both sides. I have pretty large gaps. Going to have to buy a new bumper
