Just traded my BMW 5 series in for a 2005 SRS. I am very excited about driving this for the next decade! My question is about tire pressure. The inside of the door says 32 on both front and back. Is that correct? The tire indicator light is one, but the pressure is not below 32 on any of them.

Look at the tires and see what their max pressure is. I run close to max for road driving

You could try resetting the indicator. Maybe that’s what it needs?

This is terrible advice! Tires should be run on the pressure indicated in the door jamb. The only exception should be if you change tire size and/or load range.

Most tires are rated for more than that. The point is that your tire pressure should be based on the vehicle and the tire size and load range. Running max inflation will cause uneven wear, and could be dangerous.

Pretty sure its rated for more than 35. 35 is probably the recommended psi.

4runner would ride like a brick with p-rated tires at 44psi (often a max psi on p-rated tires). Just my opinion.

depends on how your truck determines what condition sets the pressure warning light. I'm not familiar with older Runners but my 06 Trailblazer is of the era when the computer monitored the individual wheel speed sensors and if one was out of agreement with the others, it assumed it was from increased resistance due to a low tire and sets the light off. So maybe a bad wheel speed sensor (?) I'm no expert, but I spend a lot of time fixing that &%#% Chevy,so I've learned a few things that carry over.

My old '04 Sport had a sensor in the spare. There is no reset button for tire sensors. They either work or they don't. I you have the sensor light on - one or more tires are low. If the light is flashing you have a bad sensor. An '05, unless the sensors have been replaced, the batteries are probably dead or close to dead. They are suppose to last ~10 years mine started failing at about 8 years. You can't replace the batteries - they are inside the sensors. If you replace sensors the sensor serial number needs to be put into the TPS ECU. Most tire shops can program the serial number into the ECU. If you have a bad sensor and don't want to replace it, there is a mod that you can do with a quick tap on the harness that plugs into the TPS ECU that is located behind the panel under the glove box - of course then you would need to use your eyes as the TPS sensors.

I have a few month old 4Runner, all stock.
While checking the air pressure on my wife's car I decided to check the 4Runner pressure. It has about 3,000 miles so it's just as it came from the dealer originally.
I checked the door jamb to see the recommended pressure and it is 32 psi.
Was really surprised to see the pressure was 50.
    Checked all the tires....50psi.
Looked at the max pressure on the tire....52psi.
Couldn't find any info on the forum regarding pressure.
I used a Griot digital tire pressure gauge which I always found accurate compared too the little pen type gauges.
Guess my question is, "What does everyone usually run on the roads?"
50 seems unusually high for not having any kind of load and not pulling a trailer although it does not seem unusually bumpy on the highway. The tires are cold...haven't been run in over day. Cold in AZ is about 100 degrees.
    What say you????

On stock size and load rating, they should be at 32. I went higher as I added weight and went to different load rating.

Prolly have it sit on the lot at a higher PSI and forgot to bring it back down when sold.

Yeah I just had to replace sensors in my 2007 as I had the same issue. No matter what that light would not go out. Had 2 bad ones when I went to dealer.

I did drop the pressure to 37 psi and drove a few miles. Couldn't really tell any difference but this was on some smooth roads.
Have to see the difference on a "bumpy" road.

Guess I have bought enough new cars so I shouldn't trust new car dealers.
Never had this type of problem with Fords, though.
We'll see what the Bronco Sport does....it might be a while though.
