Need torque wrench, skid, recovery rope, etc...

Hi folks, as per title... I'm not looking for the most expensive ones though... what brand, etc thanks

 

I am carrying a breaker bar. While I have a torque wrench for wheels I just carry the breaker. I also find a spark plug socket is the perfect size for wheel nuts, though too snug to hold the wheel lock adapter so I carry an extra socket for that. Carry a couple of pieces of wood for under bottle jack and some wheel chocks, and tire plugs. Spare tire tool/handle needs a Philips head screwdriver Surprised not part of the kit. I picked up the Factor 55 small recovery kit. I didn't shop cost for the recovery kit but looked like what would be useful. Not driving around with this on my hitch but will have as needed.

I may investigate what best option would be for a better front recovery point.






** Update. I am on a trip around the SW and was heading to a high elevation MTB trail up a 7 mile rocky fire road in Taos, New Mexico, when I came upon this guy who got himself stuck 5 minutes before I got there. He was calling for help when I pulled up. I asked him if he had a strap and he did, so pulled out my kit and pulled him out in a couple of minutes. Made my purchase a worthwhile decision.

 

I have a Harbor Freight click-type torque wrench in the 4runner. I wouldn't build an engine with it, but it's fine for lugnuts.

A kinetic recovery strap is nice to have. I have the ARB 30'×2-3/8" Snatch Strap. It's not cheap, but none of the kinetic type recovery straps are.

 

I prefer American products when I can, I have Factor55 recovery gear and a Bubbarope winch line extension, both are high quality products. My skid plates are all RCI aluminum, full length. My thoughts are I do not want to be in the middle of no where and have a poor/cheap quality recovery gear and have it fail, because then what do you do?

 

For torque wrench I broke down and bought the Lowes Kobalt 24 volt impact wrench, then I went on Amazon and found a set of torques sticks to use for getting the proper torque. I found it amazingly easy to use compared to a manual bar or clicker wrench. A side benefit is the Kobalt makes it real easy to remove mower blades for resharpening.

Laast questions before I make the trip to check it because it's about an hour away. Where is it made, does it come with a battery and charger?

 

Yes battery and charger were included. Not sure where made. Kobalt is Lowes standard tool brand. Had mine over 1 1/2 years without any issues.

 

Nice recovery. Why didn't you use your snatch straps from that kit?

 

Wanted to see his reaction when I asked, as was what motivated me to get the kit. I didn't want to be the guy unprepared. Since he did... He was ready to go once I attached my shackle.
