    Update:

Sold the TJM Sliders. They worked, protected the body from valley of the moon rocks, but Bre wants something that offers more protection as Fred (4runner has been named Fred) didn’t push away from the rocks enough and got some extra love marks.

4th of July sale, ordered a set of All Pro Apex sliders with fill plates. Should be here sometime next week or so (who knows, they’re not exactly as reliable as they used to be).

Also just returned from a week long road trip to Lake Tahoe and back. Made a few stops along the route, got to camp a few nights, and some pictures to remember it!

    Fred got a new booty!

Found a great deal on a Coastal OffRoad bumper welded and powder coated.

Bre picked up a 5th wheel for the matching spare. Now it’s decision time on 5 new tires, current top choice is a set of Ridge Grapplers, 285/70R17 in a C load, or replace the two worn BFGs and take one of those for the spare. The current bfgs are 275/70R17.

Im leaning towards full new set. Start fresh. Two of the current tires are at 12/32nd on tread, the other two are around 5 or 6/32nd.

Whoops... accidentally spent more money on Fred

Found a deal that couldn’t be passed up and scored a Mobtown low profile bumper.

    49CC56AE-FAB7-49FB-8463-5CBC9F6CEECC.jpg

Prepped, primed, and painted the bumper then went to town on getting it installed!

    3B7A4758-927F-4931-8798-F0D05878C875.jpg 7BCEA463-BB93-4001-9F1F-D899C41CFAE2.jpg 643C7FB5-622E-48EC-83DC-D85B99F86162.jpg

Took my time cutting the center section. I wanted to keep the gaps as tight as possible, very happy with how it turned out!
(After this took it back off and added edge trim)

    9DA7065A-80BE-489D-8C4E-49117C815700.jpg

Bre didn’t want to miss the opportunity to get some cutting done herself, grabbed some gloves and glasses and did a great job!

    E8056E9E-E210-47F0-891C-DF80E8822AFE.jpg

Auto parts store only had one pack of edge trim, so we’ll cover these edges later. Wasn’t enough left over to cover the “viper” cuts.

    6DCC6F20-F07E-4005-B9D2-8EF96317CB03.jpg

    And the finished result!

    FD79F3A9-78A1-46F1-B2B0-735EBF47CC7A.jpg

I’ll need to snap some day time pictures, but couldn’t resist sharing it now.

I’m not sure if Mobtown includes instructions, but ours was 2nd hand and nothing included but the bumper. Install wasn’t hard, almost forgot to unbolt the TSS sensor from the truck - but what’s a mod without at least one “oops”.
Cutting we had no template or guide. Followed the dust line from the front bumper trim piece and was damn near spot on for the bumper. I started low and cut more and more until it was just right.
The Mobtown low profile bumper is stout! Very heavy, welds are killer, overall looks well built! Wish it had a frame reinforcement bracket for winching but we’ll make something or adapt something. No winch right now anyways, so no big deal.

We’re happy with how it came out! Can’t wait to go use it!

(oh yeah and still waiting on All Pro to ship the “in stock” sliders :bananadead: )

Looks great Mike and great find! FWIW keeping the gaps tight causes the steel bumper to rub on the plastic bumper...well it does for mine. Just my .02

    Hmm that’s a good point.

I failed with the paint, surface was too hot and ended up with a rough texture. I’ll have to pull it off anyways to sand and respray. When I do I’ll check the sides for rubbing.

Not surprised, but rubbing the cab mount so that needs to get chopped.

Had some free time to investigate the rubbing in reverse. Thought we’d get lucky and it’d just be some plastic, but no.

The rub mark is visible from the lack of dust. Going to cut extra because we haven’t tried articulating the suspension and that’ll for sure make it rub more. Then taper in the end for a little extra clearance.
    2558876A-64C2-42A2-8BE4-8A3619591FA9.jpg

After some wheeling time, if it needs more we can reassess as go from there as I’m sure the pinch weld and some plastic will need the same treatment.

Haha I remember when I first joined up there’s a few people in the area wanting to wheel!
I think the next trip out is going to be San G. I might coax some buddies to make a night run with me prior, but not sure.

Lol read up a couple posts.

275/70r17 on the trd pro wheels, no problem. No rubbing.

The 285/70r17 tires do have rubbing. We haven’t had the opportunity to get on the trail and really flex and see where it’ll hit, but the cab mount is most definitely in the way. I need to get that cut ASAP.

I’m actually surprised we’re not rubbing plastic (yet), and it’s just the cab mount.

Headed to Utah, next weekend and in prep borrowed my buddies roof rack that was collecting dust. He lost the mounts, so had to get creative at Home Depot, but it’s on!

Taking both dogs, the niece and her friend so space up top for pillows, blankets and sleeping bags will be helpful.

And there is juuust enough room that the sunroof can pop open.

After waiting two months for an “in stock” set of sliders at All Pro, they finally shipped, then the shipper had delays :annoyed::laughing:

Taking the runner to Utah at the end of the week, so instead of risking it, just drove up to the shipping hub and picked them up :headbang:

    8968DB02-9B32-4473-80FE-62BCCF4FCCD6.jpg

Install was cake. Doing it solo with a couple jacks, took ~20 minutes or so per side.

Happy with these! Look great, fit great, powder isn’t the best quality, but overall stoked. Just the right amount of angle, and they stick out just the right amount.

Haha I wish! For Moab we’d be taking the taco :D

Bre has family in Utah, so we’re headed up for her dad’s birthday and some camping!

Me + Bre + two teens + two doggos. It’ll be a packed ride!

No wonder you needed the roof rack! Maybe a hitch rack too. Have a safe journey!

Haha I hope we don’t have so much stuff that we need a hitch rack too! But with three girls...maybe.

Put a ton of miles on over the weekend on a trip to the Unitas Mountains in Utah. Had such a damn good time!

Took some time to go swim in the water at Toquerville and of course took a pic atop the falls haha.

Camping was awesome and the dogs had a great time too.
