Hey guys, I have a 2020 4runner and did a eibach lift (2 3/4) at first. I then purchased Falken wildpeaks AT3 (285/70/17) for the stock wheels while waiting for the SCS to come in stock. The tires and stock wheels gave me no vibration issues at all. They used the typical weights. Then came in the SCS wheel's and vibrations started immediately at 55mph and up. One wheel had 16.5 ounces of lead on it. Tire shop removed all weights and places 9.5 oz of balancing beats in each tire. It helped but vibration is still bad on highway. So I get them checked out with a force balancing machine and the guy says they are fine, I need more beads in them! I am pissed and exhausted over this. Tire shop is saying it is the wheel's. They are are obv hub-centric and fit well. Dont know what to do. Any of you SCS owners had balancing issues??

    To be determined
:notsure: but I’d reach out to SCS
Logic would point towards it being the wheels of the tires did fine on the other wheels

1 lb. of weights on one wheel?? I'm surprised it still turned...

I have SCS wheels on both of my 4Runner's. No problem balancing either set.

I had SCS F5's on my Tacoma and I have SCS Ray 10's on my 4Runner. Never had a balancing problem.

I have heard of a lot of people having problems getting Wildpeaks balanced. Seems suspicious though since they balanced OK on your stock wheels.

I've had 2 sets of tires on my SCS Ray10's. The techs have never said anything about balancing issues. I'd be curious to try another shop and see if that fixes the issue.

Some tires have little circles marked on them, usually red or yellow. Align the circle on each tire with the valve stem for better balance.

Although 16oz of weight is crazy! I would go to a discount tire. They have never done me wrong on a set of tires mounted and balanced.

Hey guys. yellow dot is at the air valve on each tire. I know several people had issues balancing their wildpeaks but the problem is they balanced with my factory wheels with no issues. I am losing my mind here and already invested in going to 2 shops for balancing. The shake is annoying as hell, if it was a little shimmy at a certain speed I would deal with it but it is alot more then that.

I would send them back and run stock wheels. Comfort is more important than looks for me.

Made in Thailand. Buy an American made wheel and you’ll solve the problem. Don’t believe the American designed hype. The wheel was designed a few millennia ago.

I put the 4runner up on my 2post lift and noticed how much play the driver side cv axle moves inside the transfer case. I know about the needle bearing issue but all the reports I have read is with guys having the issue at the 25mph are. At 25 mph my 4runner is smooth. ALso putting it in 4WD or N doesnt effect shake.

I’ve read about some of the guys on Tacomaworld having similar issues with SCS wheels. It was awhile ago, back before Fall 2018 when I switched to the 4 Runner. Maybe SCS could switch them out to another set and solve your problem. Just don’t bump into anything too solid if you go off road.

Thanks, I just signed up on that board. I would love to buy USA made wheels but do not have that type of budget, not to mention I fell in love with the matte Bronze Ray 10 looks

I hear you Gnfanatic, life is about choices! At least they’re not chinesium. There’s no way we should be supporting those guys with our trade.

    Hi Ralph,
I had the same issue with my SCS wheels. 3 sets of Falken tire. First set 10 ply and 2 different sets of 4 ply. All three sets at 55 to 60 mph the wheel was shaking. I deal with the same tire place and know the owner. He does not have any issue with the Falkens on other vehicles. I even questioned him on the wheels SCS and said if they were bent you would see it and the wheels are straight. Put my Nitto’s back on with my Pro wheels and no problem. Have them try a less aggressive tire. It’s the tires all the posts guys having issues with the tire balancing. I contacted Falken and they recommended to switch to a different tire. You have 30 days to return them.

Light wheel + heavy tire = shake There’s probably nothing wrong with each separate piece. It’s together under load and at speed that it becomes a problem. The wheel balance machine can't produce that effect.

I think you will be good with the Toyo’s because there almost like the Nitto’s terra Grapplers. I don’t think you should have to pay extra for road force balancing just to get a aggressive tire balanced. Good luck.

Thing is, OP said he had no balance issues with the Wildpeaks mounted on the oem wheels, just after putting them on the SCS wheels...

It don’t make sense. Maybe it’s a combination of the Falken tires and SCS wheels on the Toyota 4Runner. My tire guy did not give me a problem because there great to work with. All 3sets of my tires shaked at the same speed on my Pro. I have read so many post where guys also had issues with BF Goodrich KO2’s. I mentioned this in the other post my tire guy installs a lot of Falkens very popular on other trucks and no issues. I don’t believe it’s SCS wheels causing it. If Ralph gets the Toyo’s mounted on the SCS which he said and there is no shake all leads to the tires. Hopefully he gets good news.

@Gnfanatic posted something in Feb 2021 about a different brand/set of tires on another thread, but hasn't been seen since. I don't get why some people start a thread looking for solutions, then never come back with the results...

reach out to Vin at SCS, they’re customer service is impeccable. I’m positive he can find a solution.

I’ve had 3 sets of scs rims and the one time I had a problem they took care of me immediately.
